A person’s way of life is reflected in their work style. “Professional Work Style” is a documentary program that closely follows top professionals and thoroughly delves into their work.
“Professional Work Style” broadcast on December 30th features a special 72-minute expanded version of actor Kanna Hashimoto, who plays the main character Yui Yoneda in the currently airing TV drama series “Omusubi.”
The number of followers on X (formerly Twitter) is 4.8 million (as of December 2024), the highest number for a Japanese female actor. Hashimoto has gained overwhelming support from the younger generation as an actor who symbolizes the times.
Over the course of seven months, the program provides a close look at Kanna Hashimoto’s various workplaces, including behind the scenes of “Omusubi.” However, no matter how far I chase them, all I see is a bright and cheerful figure. One day, during a break in filming, Hashimoto suddenly uttered a word that led the film crew to learn about his lonely suffering and unknown struggle.

I’ve been saying from the beginning that I’m not cut out for close contact, but I still think so, and I can’t help but worry about whether the show is going to work or not! This time, I was given a long-term in-depth interview, and there were many words that I myself spoke for the first time, words that I conveyed straight and true, and I was able to capture a lot of things that are core to me, or what I would call “behind the scenes”. Mr. Hashimoto laughs a lot, eats a lot, and talks a lot. Just when you think he shows off his carefree side, he also reveals a side that is more calculating about how other people perceive him. Every day I conducted interviews, I felt like I was being asked very complex questions.
