Suntory’s new commercial “#Let’sBeAWonderfulPast Bird Conservation Activities 2024,” starring Inagaki Goro, Kusanagi Tsuyoshi (the official spelling of “Nagi” is the old-style character for bow + sword), and Katori Shingo, will be aired nationwide from June 5th, World Environment Day.

This commercial is the latest in the “#Let’sBecomeAWonderfulPast” corporate advertising series that has been running since 2021. Based on the motif of the “Owl Nest Box Project,” a project that Suntory has been working on for over 10 years as part of its bird conservation activities, Inagaki, Kusanagi, and Katori play three owl brothers with the atmosphere and expressions of the three.

The final scene of the commercial also features an illustration of a bird drawn by Katori to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Suntory’s bird conservation activities in 2023.

■ Comment from Goro Inagaki
Following on from my 50th anniversary last year, I once again appeared in a commercial for Suntory’s bird conservation efforts. When I appeared in last year’s commercial, I received a lot of feedback that it was a great commercial. I hope that this year’s commercial will once again spark interest in bird conservation efforts and encourage people to think together about what they can do now for the environment, so that birds today can be happy, and so that we humans can be happy in the future.

Comment from Tsuyoshi Kusanagi
This was my first time playing the role of an owl. While acting, I learned that forests that are easy for owls and birds to live in are forests with an environment that produces delicious water. I hope that through this commercial, which will be released on World Environment Day, as many people as possible will learn about the activities that Suntory, which nurtures and delivers water, is working to protect forests where diverse living creatures can live.

■ Comment from Shingo Katori
Last year, in addition to appearing in the commercial, I also had the opportunity to visit the mineral water factory and forest where Suntory employees are working to ensure delicious water for the next 100 years. It was a truly “pleasant, delicious and fun” experience. This time, I will be playing the role of a cute owl and sharing information about bird conservation activities. Last year, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of bird conservation activities, I drew an illustration of a bird that I thought was difficult to draw but put my heart into, and it will continue to appear in the commercial, so please look forward to it!
