SixTONES’ “Barrier” has been chosen as the theme song for the movie “Ojo to Watchdog-kun” (to be released on March 14th) starring Riko Fukumoto and Jesse (SixTONES).

Since their debut in 2020, SixTONES has been in charge of many tie-up songs, dramas, and movie theme songs. Their 5th album “GOLD” was released on January 15th, and they have received high praise as artists for the range of their songs and their singing ability.

The theme song sung by SixTONES is “Barrier,” which was written for the movie “Ojo to Watchdog-kun.” As with the impressive lyrics, “I won’t let anyone touch me,” Keiya Uto, a young yakuza played by Jesse, seems to be writing about his feelings for “doting on and trying to protect” Ichisaki Senagaki, played by Fukumoto. It’s a great song.

Regarding this theme song, Jesse said, “The chorus includes the phrase “I won’t let you touch me,” and the lyrics are written from Keiya’s perspective, but the melody line of the song is also sprinkled with SixTONES-esque elements, I think it’s a very well-balanced and cool song that fits into the world of “Ojo to Watchdog-kun” until the very end!”

The up-tempo melody intertwines with the lyrics written from Keiya’s perspective, making it a song that is sure to grip your heart until the end credits of the movie.

■Jesse comment
I think the theme song “Barrier” is a perfect song for “Ojo to Watchdog-kun,” which is a little different from an ordinary love story. The chorus includes the phrase “I won’t let you touch me,” and the lyrics are written from Keiya’s point of view, but the melody line of the song is also sprinkled with SixTONES-esque elements, and right up until the very end of the movie, “Oh!” I think it’s a very well-balanced and cool song that fits into the worldview of “Jou to Watchdog-kun”!
In the movie, Keiya dotes on Issaki to the point of being overprotective, and I think it’s wonderful for him to act like Keiya to protect something important, so I finished watching the movie. People, please properly “barrier” your loved ones!

Additionally, a preview video and main poster visual using the theme song “Barrier” have also been released.

In the newly released video, Ichisaki’s high school life is about to begin, full of expectations and hopes, but when she enters the school, she finds Keiya standing there as her classmate, having lied about her age…!? Don’t come near me at all in school!” Issaki says, but Keiya is overprotective and says, “I’m Issaki-san’s bodyguard.” Furthermore, there is a scene in which she whispers to Ichisaki while hugging her in the classroom after school, “Ichisaki-san is the only one who can ‘wait’ for me.” Furthermore, Tanuki, played by Kaito Sakurai, also appears, and I have a feeling that Issaki’s ordinary youth will be in turmoil…!?

The second half of the video depicts Issaki wishing for a normal, ordinary love, and Keiya acting as a “watchdog” and interfering with Issaki’s love life. What will happen to Issaki’s feelings for Keiya, the “person she shouldn’t fall in love with” who lives in the world of gangsters? Coupled with the lyrics of the theme song “Barrier”, the preview video full of Issaki’s “sadness” and Keiya’s “doting” is sure to increase expectations for this work.

The poster visual, which was released along with the preview video, is impressive with a copy depicting Issaki’s feelings, “I want to fall in love. With someone other than you,” and flowers blooming against a dark pink background. The visual shows Keiya carrying a sword, as if to say, “I won’t let anyone touch him.” It gives off a sense of being a guard dog.

Furthermore, from January 24th, movie tickets will be on sale, and a poster visual with comments from the cast will be displayed at theaters in five major cities nationwide.

Mubichike card-type advance tickets designed with an impressive teaser visual of Issaki pulling Keiya (guard dog)’s tie, which received a great response from the time the ban was lifted, will be available at movie theaters and mail order nationwide from January 24th. Sales will begin.

In addition, the latest poster visuals, flyers, Issaki and Keiya’s almost life-sized doting standees, and vertical banners will be displayed at some theaters from January 24th.

Furthermore, for a limited time, posters with handwritten comments from Riko Fukumoto and Jesse (SixTONES), who star in the film, will be displayed at some theaters in five major cities nationwide (Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, Fukuoka, and Sapporo). First of all, it will be posted at TOHO Cinemas Shinjuku from January 24th. Be sure to check out the message at the theater.
