At a press conference held on June 6th, it was announced that a new rosé wine and a new vintage wine will be released by “Y by YOSHIKI,” a wine brand produced by YOSHIKI.

The rosé wine announced this time is a new addition to the “Y by YOSHIKI California” series, one of the brand’s signature series, joining the white Chardonnay and red Cabernet Sauvignon.

Rosé wine has become extremely popular worldwide in recent years. In France, consumption has tripled over the past 23 years, and it is said that one in every four bottles of wine consumed is rosé wine. It is also becoming increasingly popular in the United States, and YOSHIKI has had more opportunities to enjoy fresh, refreshing rosé wine, so he decided to add it to his lineup in Japan, with the hope of spreading the word about rosé wine in Japan as well.

Additionally, new vintages will be released from “Y by YOSHIKI California,” “Y by YOSHIKI Russian River Valley,” and “Y by YOSHIKI Oakville.”

In particular, “Y by YOSHIKI Russian River Valley” and the series’ flagship “Y by YOSHIKI Oakville” were previously produced after the winemaking process was halted due to smoke damage from the 2020 wildfires, so expectations are high that they have finally been released after overcoming major obstacles.

“Y by YOSHIKI” is a wine brand with 15 years of history, which was launched in 2009 as a collaboration between YOSHIKI and Rob Mondavi Jr., the fourth generation winemaker of a Napa Valley winemaking family. It is also called the “phantom wine” because it sells out instantly every time it is released, and this new rosé and new vintage wine are attracting attention.

In addition, it was announced that “Y by YOSHIKI×CHAMPAGNE POMMERY Brut”, a best-selling champagne created by the prestigious French maison “POMMERY”, which was founded over 180 years ago and is known as YOSHIKI champagne, in a first-of-its-kind partnership with YOSHIKI in its long history, has been selected as the champagne by the glass at “Nobu”, the world-famous Japanese and Peruvian fusion restaurant brand located in the luxury hotel “Fairmont Monte Carlo” in Monaco.

As a result, the “Y by YOSHIKI x CHAMPAGNE POMMERY” series, which continues to expand sales in countries around the world, will now be launched in Monaco, following Japan, Germany, the United States, and the United Kingdom.

“Y by YOSHIKI x CHAMPAGNE POMMERY Brut”, which was released in Japan in September 2022 ahead of the rest of the world, sold out the first batch of 10,000 bottles in just 10 minutes after it went on sale. The importer’s stock, including sales in stores and by reservation at restaurants, was all sold out on the day of release, setting an unprecedented record for the speed at which the first batch was sold out in the history of POMMERY, a company with a long history dating back to 1836.

In December 2023, the first rosé champagne “Y by YOSHIKI × CHAMPAGNE POMMERY Brut Rose” will be released, which also sold out immediately through pre-orders. Both are carving out new legends as “phantom champagnes.”

At the press conference, it was also mentioned that a special red logo gift box for the rosé champagne “Y by YOSHIKI × CHAMPAGNE POMMERY Brut Rose” announced last fall has been completed and will be on sale for Christmas. This special box for rosé champagne was born from a sudden inspiration that YOSHIKI mentioned during the press conference at the time: “It would be better to make the box red to match the bottle,” and shows just how creative YOSHIKI is.

During the press conference, YOSHIKI commented, “In Europe and the United States, it is customary to enjoy rosé wine quite casually. Although the genre is different, in my music career I have spread new genres of music that were not heard in Japan at the time. I feel the same way about winemaking. In Japan, wine still tends to be associated with red and white, and rosé is not common. I am confident in this new work, which was completed after hundreds of tastings, so I hope that ‘Y by YOSHIKI’ will make an impact on the market.”

Furthermore, when asked about the recommended way to enjoy the new rosé wine, he replied, “First of all, I think it’s important to be healthy so that you can enjoy this delicious wine (laughs).” When asked how he usually refreshes himself, he made the audience laugh by saying, “Press conferences where I talk to reporters are a great way to refresh myself.”

On the other hand, when asked about his health, he said, “In order to stay healthy, I try to avoid accumulating stress as much as possible. Speaking of stress, there was an incident recently on social media where one of my fans was victimized due to impersonation. My staff has been warning people on social media, but when I think about how my fans must feel, I feel stressed by such behavior.” He also touched on the recent social media trouble he had.

YOSHIKI will also be holding “the world’s most luxurious dinner show,” “EVENING / BREAKFAST with YOSHIKI 2024 in TOKYO JAPAN,” at the Grand Hyatt Tokyo in Tokyo for 13 performances over eight days starting from August 2nd.
