■New CM story
◇Agent appearance
When Kitamura, who wants to change jobs, is wondering, “I want to change jobs, but what should I do?”, Hayashi, who has become a career advisor at Doda, appears as a counselor.
As a “career change professional,” Hayashi emphasized that he would fully support Kitamura’s job change activities from start to finish, including consulting on career plans, finding his strengths, providing job change know-how, correcting his work history, and preparing for interviews.
“Please talk to me about anything!” he tries to greet him by holding out his business card, but he can’t control his overly eager feelings and closes the distance too much. Kitamura is overwhelmed with enthusiasm and says, “We’re close…” However, I felt a deep sense of support.
◇Both can be used
Doda’s career advisor Hayashi, who was consulting with Kitamura, a job seeker who was wondering whether job change sites or agent services are more convenient, replied, “It depends on the person’s method and situation.”
Hayashi explained that with doda, you can use both services with a single registration, but wanting to make it even more understandable, he reiterated, “You can use both!” to which Kitamura replied, “Sounds like fun,” but was disappointed. I am satisfied with doda’s service that can be used for both.
◇One in two people use it
Kitamura is looking for an ideal career change and a service that suits him. Doda’s career advisor, Hayashi, recommends DODA, which has a wide range of job openings and is used by one in two people, because the more job openings there are, the more options there are.
When Hayashi clearly uses his finger to convey the fact that about half of those looking to change jobs use Doda, Kitamura mutters, “I look smug…” and realizes how great Doda is.

■Photography episode
Hayashi and Kitamura, who reunite after 18 years, co-star in a long-awaited commercial for the first time!
Hayashi and Kitamura did not have a chance to take a photo together although they each appeared in a Doda commercial.
Kitamura, who was able to meet him on set after the double cast was realized, said, “It’s been a while…but it was 18 years ago, so I was 8 or 9 years old (lol)” I said hello to Hayashi, my senior at the office, whom I had only met before.
Hayashi also said, “It’s been a long time, but I’ve been watching you in action for a long time,” and said, “It’s been a while, but I’ve been watching you perform.” With an expression like an older brother, Hayashi was nostalgic for their previous encounters.
The two characters have a strong contrast, and everyone around them laughs.
Hayashi was asked to play the role of a “serious, hot-blooded career advisor who works too hard,” and Hayashi worked on creating the character while trying out various actions and facial expressions.
In the scene where he gets up close to hand over his business card, the staff members around him laugh at the slightly over-the-top action and acting that conveys his kind personality.
Furthermore, with a dry expression on his face, Kitamura made a tsukkomi at the perfect time, saying, “T-that’s close…” and the studio was filled with laughter.
Hayashi and Kitamura showed an outstanding combination with their improvised lines.
In the scene where Hayashi, a career advisor, gives Kitamura advice on changing jobs, the camera was shot for a long time while they were talking freely.
Hayashi ad-libs, saying, “I used to work in sales, but I injured my foot so I quit,” and Kitamura replies with the same ad-lib, “It’s a club-like way to quit (lol),” an outstanding combination. They showed off some light dialogue.
The two were smiling as they posed for the photo shoot, as if they were truly enjoying the collaboration that took place after 18 years.
■Interview with Kento Hayashi & Takumi Kitamura
Q: Hayashi-san and Kitamura-san, this is your first time co-starring in a doda commercial. Please tell us your thoughts after filming.
Hayashi:It’s been 18 years since I last worked with Takumi-kun. We worked together on the same movie 18 years ago, but we haven’t seen each other since then…I was happy to meet you today for the first time in 18 years, and to be able to work together.
Kitamura:Hayashi was cast as the lead in the first movie I ever appeared in. I’ve been working on the Doda commercial for a long time, and even though I thought I was working with Mr. Hayashi, I was always alone during the filming, so it felt like I was finally able to meet him, or rather, it really brought back the memories of my first movie. I’ve been talking to you for a long time.Q: Mr. Hayashi played the role of Doda’s career advisor this time, what kind of image did you have in mind for the role?
Hayashi:I’ve been working as a commercial character for a long time, and I never expected that the role of someone who wanted to change jobs would become a career advisor (lol). A business card with the word “doda” written on it appears in this commercial, and I was really happy to have my name written on it.Q: The new commercial depicts the close physical distance between job seekers and agents, but are there things that the two of you are conscious of when trying to get closer to people?
Hayashi:In this job, I often meet a lot of people, so I try to remember their names as much as possible. I would be happy if my name was called.
Kitamura:As Mr. Hayashi said, there are a lot of people who say “Nice to meet you” every time, so I try to “understand” the cast members and the staff as well. I always try to keep an eye on people to see if they feel like talking right now. I’m not the type of person who can go there on my own, but I’m prepared to jump into it on my own.Q: This is your first time working together in 18 years, how was it?
Hayashi:I’ve been watching his successes for a long time, and since we’re a fair bit older than him, I thought it would be a good idea to say something like, “It’s been a while,” so I mustered up the courage to say, “Takumi. I called him “kun” (lol).
Kitamura:I was happy. This time, I was meeting for the first time in 18 years, so I wasn’t sure where to start talking, but Mr. Hayashi called me “Takumi-kun,” and he closed the distance slowly and softly, filling in the gaps. It was such a relaxed conversation that I felt comfortable talking about the past and also talking about the present.Q: In the new commercial, Mr. Hayashi plays the role of a strong-willed agent. Are there any things that the two of you are particular about or have strong feelings about?
Hayashi:I’ve started cooking a lot…I often make things by looking at recipes or watching recipe videos, and I don’t want to make mistakes, so I want to copy them completely. For example, if it says “I need oregano,” I go buy it. After that, I didn’t use it (lol). Also, when baking bread, sometimes it says baking powder, sometimes it says dry yeast, and if I don’t have dry yeast, I end up buying dry yeast even though I have baking powder. I have a bad habit of increasing the number of people. I’m confident in the taste because I’m just copying other people’s recipes. “There’s no reason why it’s not delicious because it’s a complete copy.” However, there is no such thing as “my own taste” (lol).
Kitamura:It’s a rather sketchy type, isn’t it? When I cook, I tend to make a lot of mistakes, so I tend to make a lot of mistakes. I’m very picky about things…things, clothes, cars, etc. I have a lot of masculine obsessions, but I don’t think they’re very detailed.Q: In this new commercial, Mr. Hayashi, who wanted to change jobs, changed his mind and became a career advisor and was consulted by Mr. Kitamura.I want to make a fresh change like in the commercial! Have you ever thought that?
Hayashi:This winter, I started thinking about taking proper care of my skin. Originally I didn’t do it at all, but I started to think that I didn’t want to grow old.Q: Please tell us your New Year’s resolutions for 2025.
Hayashi:If only I could stay cheerful… (lol) I hope you can stay cheerful and healthy without any stress.
Kitamura:I believe that 2025 is the year in which we will try our best once again. I thought I’d try my best again. (2024) was the year when I started to move forward not only as an actor but also in music, so I had a lot of time off to recharge my batteries and take it easy, so I think I’ll take things a little further in 2025. That’s what I think. I think this year will be about the theme of “trying hard”.
