As a 100 -year NHK broadcasting project, it was decided that the nostalgic “NHK Red and White Singing Battle -20th” will be rebroadcast on February 11.
In 1951, “NHK Red and White Singing Battle” was produced as a New Year’s radio program. In 1953, when the TV broadcast began, it started as a New Year’s Eve TV program. At the end of the year, “Red and White”, which looks back on the year, became a tradition of New Year’s Eve in Japan.
After 100 years of broadcasting, NHK played “Red and White”, which had many disturbed images, to 4K equivalent quality with video restore technology. In December 2024, the 22nd (remastered version) broadcast in 1971 was rebroadcast and was well received.
And this time, the 20th broadcast broadcasted in 1969 from the remastered images was rebroadcast.

Red Gumi is Ayumi Ishida “Blue Light Yokohama”, Koshido Fubuki “Ai no Honka”, Saori Yuki “Dawn Scat”, Saeko Hirota “Doll House”, Sachiko Nishida “When Acacia Rainy”, Azusa. Michiyo “Hello baby” and so on.
White Gumi is Kasuga Hachiro’s “Farewell Ippon Sugi”, the King Tones “Good Night Baby”, Ku Sakamoto “Look up at the star of the night”, Hiroshi Mizuhara “Kimobo -ga”, and Hiroshi Uchiyamada.・ Five is a lot of famous songs that are still loved, such as Five “Nagasaki was raining today” and Shinichi Mori “Minatomachi Blues”.
