Da-iCE’s Kudo Taiki is a NewJeans guy!? He passionately discusses the appeal of NewJeans on the radio show “TALK ABOUT”

■Da-iCE’s Kudo Taiki: “It’s inevitable that he’ll become the ‘New Jeans Uncle'”

Da-iCE’s Taiki Kudo is the host of TBS Radio’s “TALK ABOUT” (every Saturday from 22:00 to 23:30). On June 1st, Kudo’s song selection corner featured two songs from NewJeans, “Bubble Gum” and “Attention.” While introducing the songs, he spoke about the amazingness of NewJeans’ creative director.

He explained that the role of a creative director is to produce everything from what musical style to release to what fashion to dress them in, and then expressed his personal opinion that it was cool that they had been doing something that no one had ever done before for such a long period of time.

Even when it comes to songs, while many productions had previously been aggressive in the form of hip-hop or so-called girl crush, they chose city pop and R&B songs that are easy to listen to and add to playlists, and they did not use their portraits on the jacket photos, which was an unprecedented strategy for a girl group, she said, stating that it was amazing that they continued to pursue this strategy, and that she hopes listeners will understand this.

He also reiterates the amazing thing about doing something that has never been done before – being able to brush aside criticism and suggestions from those around you and do it with confidence.

The Kudo generation, who went beyond the K-POP culture and fell in love with NewJeans for its musicality, are known to the public as “NewJeans Uncles.”

The genre that Kudo’s generation grew up in is one that they think would be cool if young people today were to express. NewJeans is the generation that has made that coolness a reality.

In other words, it’s inevitable that I’ll become a “New Jeans uncle!”

Da-iCE’s latest song “I wonder,” in which Kudo also participated in writing the lyrics, is currently being distributed and has been well received. It has been played over 400 million times on TikTok. It is also used as the theme song for the drama “Kururi ~Who Fell in Love with Me?~” starring Ai Ikumi (every Tuesday from 10pm on TBS).
