It has been decided that “ACMA: GAME The Last Key” will be made into a movie (release date October 25th).
“ACMA:GAME” aired on the Sunday drama slot on Nippon Television in April. It is based on the manga of the same name (originally written by Maeve and illustrated by Kei Hiroshi) that was serialized in “Weekly Shonen Magazine” (Kodansha) from 2013 to 2017.
The protagonist, Oda Terutomo, is caught up in the ultimate “brain x mind” death game[Akuma Game]played by strange demons, after receiving a “mysterious key (= Devil’s Key)” from his father when he was young. Working together with his middle school classmates Saito Hajime and Manabe Yuki, he collects the “Devil’s Keys”, which will give him everything in this world if he collects 99 of them. Through many battles, he deepens his bond with Uesugi Senya and Shikibu Murasaki, who become his allies, and together they approach the purpose and identity of the mysterious organization known as Gungnir in this survival entertainment.
The main character, Oda Teruasa, is played by Mamiya Shotaro, Teruasa’s best friend and rival Saito Ui is played by Tanaka Itsuki, Teruasa’s first childhood friend and AI programmer Manabe Yuki is played by Furukawa Kotone, the genius gambler Uesugi Senya is played by Ryusei Ryo, the idol Shikibu Yukari is played by Arashi Rina, and Houshin Inoru, a senior member of the mysterious organization Gungnir, is played by Ozawa Yukiyoshi, and each of them gives a passionate performance of a unique character.
The brutal “Demon Game” that unfolds in each episode, where life and death are at stake, and the turbulent drama filled with betrayal and desire have gained popularity, and the final episode ended with a shocking death of Oda Seiji, played by Kikkawa Koji, the mastermind and guide of Gungnir and Terutomo’s father.
The theme song “MEMORIES of the End” (UVERworld), which colors the worldview of the work, and the insert song “GONG” (SixTONES), which livens up the work with its fast tempo, were also hot topics. They attracted a lot of attention.

When I heard that “ACMA:GAME” was going to be made into a movie, I felt excited and happy that I could make an even bigger production out of my favorite work with my favorite team, and I was honestly happy. Filming took place overseas, which was physically tough, but I was able to overcome it with the help of the local people. I think that actually filming overseas has made it a worthwhile and convincing movie. The movie will feature original characters and an original game, and the scale will be even bigger than the drama, but there will still be many characters with strong personalities.

With the aim of creating dynamic visuals and the gimmicks that only film can offer, the staff and cast came together to take many wonderful shots, including full-scale overseas location shooting and filming on large-scale art sets.

■ Story
Terutomo, whose father was killed by the mysterious organization Gungnir, goes on a journey to collect the 99 “Devil’s Keys” using the words his father left behind as clues in order to destroy all 99 of them.
[As Terutomo searches for the key, he is confronted by a new enemy: a mysterious brother and sister who run a religious organization, with the younger sister able to read people’s minds. And then there is his father’s enemy, Houshin, who holds the 99th key.]
Terutomo takes on a new ACMA:GAME together with his best friends Hajime and Yuki, and his new companions Sen’ya and Murasaki.
“Five Spell Survival” involves choosing your favorite ability with five letters and shooting at the opponent’s target. “Down True or False” involves a life-or-death situation in which you are in a car loaded with explosives. And “The Gladiator” is a survival game set in the deepest part of an ancient ruin, the birthplace of the “Devil’s Key”, which develops into a final battle for the survival of mankind.
