Awich appointed as Okinawa Global Ambassador! "I will strive to share the island's treasures with people all over the world."

Awich, a rapper from Okinawa, will be appearing at Coachella 2024, one of the world’s largest music events, expanding his scope of activity not only in Japan but also around the world.

Even in her global activities, she has always maintained a love, respect and representation for her hometown of Okinawa. For example, she released the viral hit “RASEN in OKINAWA” with her friends from Okinawa, and performed “Queendom” in Korean for the popular Korean YouTube project “Killing Verse,” an episode that expresses her feelings for Okinawa, where she was born and raised.

Due to her influence and her past attitude overseas, Awich was appointed “Okinawa Global Ambassador.” On June 10th, an inauguration ceremony and press conference were held in Naha, Okinawa, where Awich’s comments on her appointment were also made public.

Being appointed as an Okinawa Global Ambassador is a great honor for me, as I was born and raised in Okinawa.
As a hip-hop artist, I have been singing about the events that have happened to me and the environment I grew up in. The strength to live with nature that Okinawa has taught me, the desire for peace, and the strength to face various fates are also woven into my music. I believe that the values regarding life that have been nurtured throughout the history of this small island will generate empathy in various places around the world.
