The first episode of the drama “Black Pean Season 2” starring Kazunari Ninomiya will be set on the Gold Coast in Australia! Kim Mu-jun will also be appearing

■ “(Min-jae, the character I play) is a character that makes me want to play him as I am.” (Kim Moo-jung)

“Black Pean Season 2,” starring Ninomiya Kazunari, will be broadcast on TBS’s Sunday Theatre (every Sunday at 9:00 pm) in July. This is the sequel to “Black Pean,” which aired on Sunday Theatre in April 2018 starring Ninomiya, and will be his return to Sunday Theatre for the first time in six years. In this work, which takes place six years after Season 1, Ninomiya will not play Tokai Seijiro, the character he played in Season 1, but rather Amagi Yukihiko, a devilish, world-renowned genius surgeon who plays with both people and money.

The original work is Takeru Kaido’s novels “Blaze Scalpel 1990” and “Sliggie Center 1991” (Kodansha Bunko). Kaido has been raising the issue of medical issues in Japan through entertainment. The “Black Pean” series, known as the “Bubble Trilogy,” “Black Pean 1988,” “Blaze Scalpel 1990,” and “Sliggie Center 1991,” have received enthusiastic support from fans.

■The largest drama location shoot to date (※) was carried out on the beaches and casinos of Australia’s Gold Coast!
The first episode begins with Masashi Sera (Ryoma Takeuchi) receiving a letter from Professor Saeki (Masaaki Uchino) to deliver to a doctor named “Amagi” at a conference to be held on the Gold Coast in Australia.

This time, the drama was shot on the Gold Coast in Australia, where the story is set, on a larger scale than ever before. Filming took place in various locations with the cooperation of the Gold Coast Tourism Board, the Queensland Tourism Board, Tourism Australia, and Qantas.

The scene in which Amagi places a chance sample bet on roulette in the first episode was filmed at the casino of the local hotel “The Star Gold Coast.” With the cooperation of “The Star,” the scene was filmed in a special room in the casino that is not usually available for use.

Additionally, the final scene of episode 1 was shot at Brisbane Airport. Other scenes include the scene on the beach in Surfers Paradise where Sera and Kakiya (Haruka Uchimura) meet a mysterious man, and the horse racing track on the outskirts of Gold Coast where they head to meet Amagi. You can enjoy the visually stunning footage shot at these locations along with the story.

■Kim Mu-jun, the charming young Korean actor, makes his first appearance in a Japanese drama!
In addition, the role of Park Min-jae, a Korean medical intern who Sera meets on the Gold Coast, will be played by young Korean actor Kim Mu-jun. This will be his first appearance in a Japanese drama.

Kim Mu-jun made his breakthrough by playing the protagonist’s friend, an art school student, in the Netflix series “I Know It All.” He is also expected to have a bright future after winning the Best New Actor award at the 2023 MBC Drama Awards, one of the awards events held by Korea’s three major terrestrial broadcasting stations.

The contrast between his 182cm height and his adorable smile that gives off a little brother vibe is what makes him so appealing, and he adores Ninomiya and Takeuchi on the set, and his friendly personality makes him a mood maker.

Kim Mu-jun plays Park Min-jae, a medical intern at a hospital in Korea. Min-jae searches for Amagi and visits the Gold Coast with his mother. There, he meets Sera, who is also searching for Amagi.

Regarding the character Min-jae, Kim Mu-jun said that he feels that he and Min-jae are similar in personality and other aspects, and said, “It’s a character that makes me want to play it as I am.” It will be interesting to see how Min-jae, the character he plays, will be involved in the story.

The show’s official social media accounts are currently displaying clips and stills from Season 1. Also, all episodes are available for unlimited viewing on the “U-NEXT Paravi Corner.” Additionally, it is available for free streaming on “TVer” for a limited time until 11:59 p.m. on July 11, and will also be available on “Netflix” from June 15.

■ Comment from Kim Mu-jun
Hello, this is Kim Mu-jun.
I have been given the opportunity to appear in the Japanese drama “Black Pean Season 2.” Although I am still inexperienced, I am working hard on the preparations and filming, and am working hard with everyone involved to make a good drama, so I hope you will look forward to it and give me lots of support.
Also, please look forward to seeing what kind of character I will appear as. Thank you!

■ Producer Hidenori Iyoda’s comment:
This time, a very important setting was “a place with beautiful ocean views overseas.” Therefore, with the cooperation of many people, we were able to film in Gold Coast. Thanks to them, we were able to film the wonderful scenery and situations that can only be filmed in Gold Coast, and the wonderful acting that can only be done in that environment. We are grateful to everyone who worked hard. We hope everyone will look forward to the broadcast.
When I first met Kim Mu-jun, I remember that his eyes were so clear that I was drawn in. He also showed me a full-body performance in Japanese that he had just learned. His reckless acting left such an impression that I offered him the role. By the way, when he comes to the filming site, the place becomes brighter. I hope you will look forward to his acting.

■ Episode 1 Synopsis
Saeki Seigo (Uchino Masaaki), who became the director of Tojo University Hospital, was planning to open a new hospital specializing in cardiac surgery. His next goal is to become the president of the All Japan Medical Association.

Cardiovascular surgeon Masashi Sera (Ryoma Takeuchi) receives a letter from Saeki to attend a conference in Australia and deliver it to a doctor named Yukihiko Amagi who works at the Heart Center on the Gold Coast.

Sera, who traveled to Australia with senior doctor Yuji Kakiya (Haruka Uchimura), finds a boy who has lost consciousness on a Gold Coast beach and administers first aid. As Kakiya is puzzled by the boy’s lack of consciousness, a mysterious man appears before him. Thanks to his advice, the boy’s life is saved.

Afterwards, Sera and the others attend a conference, but end up not meeting Amagi.

The two of them decide to go to the racetrack to meet Amagi. There they find a mysterious man who looks just like Tokai Seijiro, who left Tojo University six years ago. He is none other than Amagi Yukihiko (Ninomiya Kazunari), a world-renowned genius surgeon known in the medical world as Diable (the Devil), who plays with people and their money.
