Nakajima Kento’s first starring role in TV Tokyo’s drama “It’s Just Another Person’s Business” will see Shiraishi Sei and Katahira Nagisa join the cast

■ “I have a feeling that this role will be perfect for Nakajima Kento” (Katahira Nagisa)

Shiraishi Sei and Katahira Nagisa have been confirmed as new cast members for TV Tokyo’s Drama 8 “It’s None of My Business After All: The True Feelings of a Lawyer,” starring Nakajima Kento, which will begin airing on July 19th.

This is a new-generation, “ultra-realistic” legal drama in which Nakajima Kento, in his first lead role in a TV Tokyo drama, plays a new-generation, new-type lawyer, Yasuda Osamu, who dismisses the people who come to him for advice by saying, “In the end, it’s none of my business,” but with his unique beliefs, he cuts through the most common social media troubles, such as online flame wars and slander, in a refreshing, sometimes dark way.

Shiraishi Sei, who has appeared in many popular dramas, will play Kagami Akari, a diligent and hardworking budding paralegal working at Yasuda’s law firm. Katahira Nagisa will play Kashiwara Maho, an original character for the drama, who is the owner of “Cafe Kashiwara” near Yasuda Osamu’s law firm and is Yasuda’s biggest ally (!?) who loves sweets.

In contrast to Attorney Yasuda, who is in some ways very dry and whose motto is “it’s someone else’s business,” Kagami, who empathizes with his clients and gently supports them, cannot understand Yasuda’s rude attitude, and the two seem to have the worst possible compatibility, but the chemistry that occurs between the two as they handle various cases and their relationship as they grow as partners are also worth watching.

And Maho, the owner of “Cafe Kashiwabara,” who delivers delicious sweets and tea to the two at Yasuda Osamu Law Firm and is also a good confidant for Kagami to vent his frustrations. She is a new character who was created as a result of this drama adaptation and will appear in the original comic in the future, and she is a presence that brings momentary healing to the office where people come to consult with various troubles. However, it seems that she has a past that cannot be ignored.

After each episode has aired, the series will be available for unlimited viewing on the video streaming service Prime Video, from the first episode through to the latest episode.

Q. Please tell us how you felt when you were chosen to appear in the drama, and your impressions after reading the script.
I had always been interested in and read the original comic, so I was very happy to be involved in its adaptation. Compared to the legal dramas I’ve seen up until now, the theme felt closer to me, so even reading the script was easy to understand and felt fresh.

Q. This is a legal drama that deals with some of the most familiar themes today, such as slander and social media flame wars. Please tell us about your enthusiasm for playing the role of Kagami Akari, a paralegal who is a partner of lawyer Yasuda Osamu.
I’ve never played the role of a paralegal before, so I’m excited to see what kind of team Yasuda Osamu Law Office will become. It’s also been seven years since I last worked with Nakajima-san, the main star, and I had just started this job at the time, so I hope to be able to show how much I’ve grown.

Q. Please give a message to the viewers who are looking forward to the drama.
It could happen to you tomorrow. Because it is a familiar theme, even though the title says “It doesn’t happen to me,” I think you will be able to watch it without thinking that way. I hope to be able to capture the fun and tempo of the original comic in the film. Please look forward to it!

Q. Please tell us how you felt when you were chosen to appear in the drama, and your impressions after reading the script.
I’m very scared. I’m scared of getting hurt, so I try to avoid the online world as much as possible. So when I heard about the role, I was a little worried, wondering if I, who doesn’t even know the difference between “buzzing” and “bugging,” would be okay. However, after reading the script for the first four episodes, I honestly thought, “Hmmmm… I see, it’s interesting. It’s intriguing. I’m learning something.”

Q. This is a legal drama that deals with some of the most familiar themes today, such as slander and social media flame wars. Please tell us about your enthusiasm for playing the role of Kashiwabara Maho, an original character in this drama.
Since this character does not appear in the original manga, “After all, it’s someone else’s business,” it’s hard to grasp what kind of character he should be, but that’s why I’m looking forward to creating him in consultation with the director. Fortunately, the original authors, Sato Masatoshi and Fujiya Katsuhito, have been happy to accept the drama’s original Kashiwara Maho, so I hope to play a good understanding friend to the easily misunderstood main character, Yasuda-kun, who can take a break from the stress, and a tasteful cafe owner. Am I the only one who finds myself humming the lyrics, “Delicious tea ~ Cafe ~♪” (laughs)?

Q. Please give a message to the viewers who are looking forward to the drama.
I have a feeling that this drama will be a perfect fit for Nakajima Kento. In today’s world, it may no longer be enough to say, “It’s scary, I don’t know, I don’t want to see it!” Because you may be on fire without even knowing it… If you’re as bad at the internet as I am, why not join me in having fun and learning!?
