The title track “Magnetic” from ILLIT’s first mini album “SUPER REAL ME” surpassed 100 million cumulative plays in the “Oricon Weekly Streaming Ranking” (dated June 17th) announced on June 12th.
The achievement of reaching 100 million views in just the 11th week since its release is the fastest number of weeks for a female group to reach 100 million views. As a work, it is the third longest record for a foreign artist, following two works by BTS.
Furthermore, “Magnetic” also achieved 100 million cumulative plays on the Billboard JAPAN Chart’s Streaming Songs Chart, tying for third place in the history of Billboard JAPAN in K-POP charts. By dominating Japan’s two major charts, ILLIT has proven its immense popularity in Japan.
“Magnetic” has been a long-running global hit, charting on the US Billboard charts for 10 consecutive weeks and becoming the fastest K-pop girl group debut song to surpass 200 million plays on Spotify.
In Japan, it is still ranked 4th in the “Top Songs Ranking” of Apple Music, a major music streaming platform in Japan. It has been ranked 1st for 5 consecutive weeks in the “TikTok Weekly Top 20” (as of May 22nd), a chart that measures the popularity of songs on TikTok by Billboard JAPAN. It also ranked 1st in the “TOKIO HOT 100” (as of May 19th), a ranking released by J-WAVE, one of Japan’s major radio stations.
In the Billboard JAPAN rankings for the first half of 2024 announced recently, the song was ranked 26th in the “Overall Song Chart JAPAN Hot 100,” 32nd in the “Top Artist Chart Artist 100,” and 6th in the “TikTok Songs Chart Top 20.” In addition, “Magnetic” was selected as 3rd in the “Trend Rankings Selected by Gen Z” for the first half of 2024 announced by Z Research Institute, and is gaining tremendous support, especially among young people in Japan, for its trendiness.
