■ “I created this with the image of Rico returning to her hometown and spending time with her family in mind.” (Higuchi Kaede)
The Thursday Drama 24 “Mass Production Rico – The Last Plastic Model Girl’s Life Assembly Chronicle” (TV Tokyo, every Thursday from 24:30) starring Yoda Yuki (Nogizaka46) will start on June 27th. The 80-second trailer has now been released.
The long-awaited third and final film in the series has the theme of “family.” It depicts the summer that Riko and her family spend together after returning to their hometown for the first time in a long time.
The trailer is packed with the summery daily life of the Komukai family, as well as the encounter between Riko and the Yajima Model Shop. You can get a glimpse of the characteristics of the three Komukai sisters, and an incident breaks out at the Komukai family’s first family reunion in four years! At the end of the trailer, you can also hear the familiar line from “Mass-Produced Riko.” The plastic model “HG Gundam Barbatos,” which appears in the first episode, is also revealed for the first time. It’s an 80-second trailer that builds anticipation for the events that will occur over the summer at the Komukai family home, located in a rural area rich in nature.
The opening theme will be “I’m Home!”, a new song by Higuchi Kaede, who is active as a VTuber. This will be the third consecutive opening theme that Higuchi has written for this series, starting from the first. Like the previous two songs, “I’m Home!” was written specifically for the drama. The song is sprinkled with “family love” in keeping with the theme of “family.” A portion of the song is used in the 80-second trailer, so be sure to check it out.
■ Episode 1 Synopsis
Komukai Riko (Yoda Yuki) returns to her hometown after hearing the news of her grandfather’s death. At the wake, where the whole family gathers for the first time in four years, the Komukai family cannot find words to remember their grandfather other than that he was “kind.” One day, she finds an unfinished plastic model among her grandfather’s belongings. Feeling that she is only halfway there, Riko heads to Yajima Model Shop to complete the model. There, she meets the owner, Yassan (Tanaka Yoji), who encourages her to try making a plastic model. Then, upon seeing the model come to life, Riko…
■ Comment from Kaede Higuchi
Congratulations on the third installment of the “Mass-Produced Rico” series! I was surprised because I never thought I’d be able to see Rico’s world three times! What happens twice… I can’t stop being excited every week this season! The theme of “I’m Home!”, which I will be performing the opening this time, is “family love”. Since it’s summer vacation, I created it with the image of Rico returning to her hometown and spending time with her family, incorporating sounds that give the feeling of home. The everyday life that was normal when we were children feels special as we grow up, but I sang the song while feeling that it’s very happy to have a family that protects a place we can return to. Please try spending the summer with Rico, turning on wind chimes or electric fans instead of air conditioners once in a while!
