■ “I tried to create an interesting place that would be like going to the beach in pajamas.” (I wouldn’t go to the beach in my pajamas, Bessho)
Newtro, a “revival” music project that reconstructs Japan’s most famous songs, has released the music video for their 16th song, “Hello, Again ~A Place That Has Always Been There~ x I Won’t Go to the Sea in My Pajamas.”
The song being revived this time is “Hello, Again ~A Place That Has Always Been There~”, a signature song by My Little Lover that captivated J-POP in the 90s with the crystal clear voice of vocalist akko and a melody composed by Kobayashi Takeshi and Fujii Kenji. It has been covered by various artists and is still loved and cherished by many people today.
This song was reconstructed by Pajama de Umi Nanka Ikanai, an international group that has roots in neo-soul and jazz, and pursues experimental sounds based on band sounds. The illustrations for the music video were done by Kohaku Ame.
Additionally, an interview with I Don’t Go to the Beach in My Pajamas will be aired on MUSIC ON! TV’s “Newtro” on June 20th.

Personally, this is a song I used to listen to a lot when I was in junior high school.
After all, the original song has its own image and the original way of singing it, so we thought we’d do it our own way.
The original song is pop, so pop is pop, but I wanted to create a chord progression that wasn’t like pop, and I finished it in a way that made it interesting and unique to Pajaumi. (Bessho)
