■Netflix is streaming a documentary that follows the process of how the group was formed!
KATSEYE (pronounced: Cat’s Eye), the first ever global girl group formed using K-POP training methods, will be launching this summer.
Two singles will be released in advance from their debut EP, which will be released in August by HYBE x Geffen Records, and a documentary following the process of the group’s formation will be released on Netflix this summer.
The first single, “Debut,” will be released at 1:00 p.m. on June 28th, Japan time, and the second single will be released in July.
The Netflix documentary series Pop Star Academy: KATSEYE follows the year-long process that led to the creation of this one-of-a-kind girl group.
With unprecedented access, the series charts the members’ paths to stardom, including insight into the unique training and development program offered by HYBE and Geffen Records.
The series is directed by Nadia Hallgren, known for her Netflix film Enslaved Women, and produced by HYBE, Interscope Films, and Boardwalk Pictures.
KATSEYE consists of six members aged 16 to 21 and from various cultures: Daniella (from Atlanta, Georgia, USA), Lara (from Los Angeles, California, USA), Manon (from Zurich, Switzerland), Megan (from Honolulu, Hawaii, USA), Sophia (from Manila, Philippines), and Yunchae (from Seoul, South Korea).
The group’s logo was also revealed; inspired by the multi-coloured gemstone cat’s eye, it symbolises the diversity and individuality that each member brings to the group.
Vogue magazine, which named KATSEYE its “Artist to Watch This Year,” said of the group, “KATSEYE is changing the face and sound of modern pop as we know it,” while People magazine proclaimed, “Feminine, powerful and unique — those are the only words to describe this hot new girl group.”
