■ Comments from King & Prince’s Ren Nagase and Travis Japan’s Genta Matsuda
–After the final episode aired, the show received a huge response, and the total number of views for catch-up streaming has now surpassed 20 million. How does that feel?
Nagase:I was very happy and surprised that so many people have watched it. I know that numbers aren’t everything, but when I heard and saw that it was number one on the TVer rankings, it really motivated me. I think that “Tokyo Tower” was created together with everyone.
Matsuda:It was great to be able to share such a wonderful piece with everyone. As Ren said, numbers aren’t everything, but I’m glad I took on the challenge of “Tokyo Tower,” and it made me want to keep doing my best.–What was the most memorable scene in the final episode and why?
Nagase:The scene where they are drinking on the rooftop after being dumped shows them both getting over it in a good way, trying to move forward, and their friendship deepening. It was also a very memorable scene because it was fun to shoot.
Matsuda:At the end of the university, Kimiko threw nail polish at us, and we exchanged words and were able to communicate our feelings to each other. It was a very refreshing scene.–Please give a message to all the viewers who have supported you up to this point.
Nagase:I’m grateful to all the staff who worked hard with us despite the tight shooting schedule, but more than anything, it was all of you who watched it that made this record possible. Because of you all, I was able to deliver the show every week with more confidence and pride, and I think the work “Tokyo Tower” has gotten better and better, so I’m grateful every day.
Matsuda:I myself have received a lot of feedback and words of encouragement, which made me feel that people really love my work. I was able to enjoy it and do my best because of those comments, and “Tokyo Tower” was a turning point for me to continue to enjoy it and do my best in the future. I will continue to evolve so that I can give back to everyone. Thank you very much.
