■Ichiko (Mizuki Takahata) is filled not only physically but also emotionally by Rei’s (Hokuto Yoshino) attentive service, and is brought to tears. The love story of the couple that began with their “official affair” is reaching its climax!
Peko Watanabe’s “1122” became a huge hit manga that was highly praised as a new marriage story, and has been adapted into a TV drama, “1122 Good Couple,” which has been exclusively distributed worldwide on Prime Video since June 14th. The story of the latest episode and selected photos from each episode have been released.
The drama “1122 Good Couple” is a love story about a slightly unusual “form of marriage” that maintains a relationship by “allowing extramarital affairs, in other words, officially recognized affairs.” The married couple Ichiko and Otoya are played by Mitsuki Takahata and Masaki Okada. In addition to the two co-starring for the first time, Nishino Nanase, Kora Kengo, Yoshino Hokuto, Narita Ryo and other impressive co-stars appear. The director of this work is Imaizumi Rikiya. In addition, the screenplay is written by Imaizumi’s wife, Imaizumi Kaori, making it the first husband-wife collaboration. Expectations are high for how the story unfolds with the interaction between the “modern” couple Ichiko and Niya, spun by the talented cast and staff, and the people around them. Even before the release, many people were expressing their expectations, saying “I’m really looking forward to the broadcast” and “I can’t wait for the release.”
The seven-episode story will be released in three parts: episodes 1-3 on June 14, episodes 4-5 on June 21, and episodes 6-7 on June 28. Episodes 1-3 are currently available. Episodes 4 and 5 will be available from June 21, and previews for the next episode can be viewed on PrimeVideo.
Kazuko and Niya are close and can talk about anything like friends. One day, Kazuko turns down Niya’s invitation for the night, saying she’s “not in the mood.” Niya wants to have sex even as a family, but because they are family, Kazuko can’t feel like it. Trying to understand Niya’s feelings, Kazuko proposes to him that “extramarital love is permitted = officially recognized adultery.” As they spend their days like this, Kazuko notices her husband looking happy recently and realizes that he has a new girlfriend.
Because she didn’t face up to the situation when they became sexless, Niya ended up with a girlfriend, so Kazuko tries to face the situation, but what is this feeling of unease in her heart?… Niya is the complete opposite of Kazuko, who is so confused that she could be called a girl in love. However, the third episode ends with an unexpected, shocking and painful turn of events between Niya and his girlfriend, Mizuki. The next episode will continue with the next episode, leaving fans curious about what will happen next, but the third and fourth episodes are filled with developments that will make them faint, but will also make them want to peek through their fingers.
The photos released this time include Kazuko bursting into tears in front of Niya, a scene capturing the atmosphere that an incident between Niya and Mitsuki is about to break out, and a scene where Kazuko and Rei are just centimeters away from kissing. In addition, they include Kazuko and Niya having a drink from Mount Fuji cups, and in contrast, a glimpse of the distance between Mitsuki and Shiro, whose hearts just cannot seem to close. These photos are being shown for the first time, giving a better idea of the world of the drama.
■ Episode 4 Story
Kazuko (Takahata Mitsuki) finally experiences the “BODY EXTRA COURSE” with Rei (Yoshino Hokuto). The meticulous service, including skin-to-skin contact and careful kisses, not only satisfies her body but also her heart, and she can’t help but cry.
At the same time, Niya (Masaki Okada) and Mizuki (Nishino Nanase) were facing a battlefield. In Mizuki’s hand, Niya was holding a sword used for flower arrangements, and he was writhing in pain as he was holding his vital spot. Niya refused to have sex, saying that he wanted to be friends with each other while cherishing their respective families, and Mizuki could not forgive him. After learning that Niya had been “stabbed” by Mizuki, Kazuko, who felt that there was a limit to continuing the system of allowing extramarital affairs, told Niya how she honestly felt. Meanwhile, Mizuki, who had broken up with Niya, was also trying to face her relationship with Shiro (Kengo Kora). Shiro, who turned his back on both Mizuki, who had committed an affair, and his son who needed special education, refused to face reality, and Mizuki told him, “You and I have to change. You and I have to change.”
■ Episode 5 Story
Kazuko (Takahata Mitsuki) and Niya (Okada Masaki) decide to abolish the system of permission for extramarital affairs and start their marriage over. They try to resume their sex life, but the harder they try, the worse it gets. Although they understand each other’s feelings, Niya can’t forget the face of Mizuki (Nishino Nanase) when she said, “Even if you break up with me, I don’t want you to have sex with anyone else,” and somewhere in her mind, Kazuko compares her actions with Rei (Yoshino Hokuto). To make matters worse, Niya is ordered to transfer to a less-active position at the stationery manufacturer where he works. Meanwhile, Kazuko finds it hard to understand that Niya continues to attend a flower arrangement class even after his relationship with Mizuki has ended. Kazuko consults Rei about her sexless relationship with Niya, but she can’t hide her loneliness when she learns that Rei is quitting her job as a therapist to go to graduate school. Niya happens to witness the two of them looking intimate. When Niya found out that Kazuko had paid money to receive the courtesy service, he, who rarely lost his temper, gave her a look of contempt.
