A special program to commemorate the victory of Machiura Pink, the champion of the “R-1 Grand Prix 2024”, “R-1 Grand Prix 2024 Winner Special: Machiura Pink’s Occupation: Stand-Up Comedy – I Made Her Say It’s Absolutely Funny!” will be broadcast on the Kansai TV and Fuji TV networks nationwide from 1:10 am on June 23rd.
Machiura took home the crown with his signature “fantasy stand-up comedy” and was congratulated by his fellow comedians as the undisputed winner, but some viewers didn’t get how funny it was. In the show, Machiura will incorporate his “fantasy stand-up comedy” into three spectacular situations, exploring the possibilities of what’s possible.
■Machiura Pink invades EXILE TAKAHIRO’s stage!
One part that music fans can’t miss is when Machiura bursts onto the stage at EXILE TAKAHIRO’s solo tour, “EXILE TAKAHIRO LIVE TOUR 2024 “FULL THROTTLE”!
In fact, Machiura said that TAKAHIRO had applied to the audition that led to him joining EXILE, “EXILE VOCAL BATTLE AUDITION 2006 ~ASIAN DREAM~”. He still feels a connection to it, thinking, “What if I had been selected then?” (laughs).
To clear up the regret he has felt for 18 years, he made a surprise appearance on stage during EXILE TAKAHIRO’s live performance and performed a stand-up comedy routine in front of the fans! He also performed a special duet of “Lovers Again,” the song he was not able to sing at the audition! With witness Hideaki Murata (Toro Salmon) watching, will Machiura be able to capture the hearts of the audience even in a completely unfamiliar situation?
■On his impression of TAKAHIRO, “At least he should have a bad personality!” (Machiura)
After filming, Machiura, who was finally able to co-star with TAKAHIRO for the first time, was impressed with his impression of him, saying, “I wish he’d at least have a bad personality! He was so friendly that I couldn’t believe it was the first time we’d met, and he was such a nice person, there was nothing to fault him. He was very calm and had the air of a veteran, and was incredibly kind.”
However, he seemed to be more nervous than any other location shoot, saying, “After all, going to a live concert where TAKAHIRO’s fans gathered was something else. Especially when I sang, I felt a different kind of tension than I do when I’m singing. It was on such a different level that I can’t even remember the size of the venue, and we easily surpassed our previous record in terms of audience numbers.” He laughed bitterly. “I was worried about how the audience would react, but when we went on stage, they welcomed us warmly, as if we had projected TAKAHIRO’s personality onto them. TAKAHIRO is doing great! He’s got a great audience!” he said, looking back in high spirits.
TAKAHIRO commented, “It was more pink than I thought (laughs). We’re the same age, so I felt a sense of closeness to him, and I think he’s a very polite and wonderful person.” Regarding the stand-up comedy that was the theme of his own performance, he said, “I was surprised because I didn’t remember it, but I was happy that he sprinkled in song titles and words related to EXILE.” He also said, “It was emotional because we were in the same audition, but I also felt that it was fate that we were able to meet and sing a duet like this again. I sincerely hope that Machiura Pink’s charm and fun will explode (laughs). I had a great time. Please take a look.”
