■ “Indian films have a strong individuality in terms of music and dance. So this time, I will be dancing in India for the first time.” (Nakajima Kento)
WOWOW’s new program “Nakajima Kento Movie Traveler” will be broadcast, in which Nakajima Kento travels around the world with a focus on movies. Prior to the broadcast, the program was released on WOWOW On Demand on July 1st.
This program is a new type of movie information program with the theme of “movies x travel,” which explores the unique movie culture that exists in each country and talks to filmmakers who represent those countries, thereby delving into the current state of world movies.
The first destination is India, the world’s largest film powerhouse. In the first episode, we travel to Bengaluru, a major city in southern India.
In India, a multilingual country where more than 120 languages are spoken, film industries such as Hindi-speaking Bollywood and Telugu-speaking Tollywood have attracted attention, but recently the Kannada-speaking film industry, Sandalwood, has been attracting a lot of attention.
So this time, Nakajima went to Bengaluru, the home of Sandalwood, to interview director Prashanth Neel, the most talked-about South Indian hitmaker right now. During the interview, he talked about the importance of flashy action scenes that are unique to Indian films, and the image of a hero.
Director Neil’s latest film, “SALAAR,” is scheduled to be released in Japan on July 5. After watching this interview, you’ll surely enjoy the film even more.
The highlight of this program, which has a theme of “movies and travel,” is Nakajima’s travels. There’s even a scene where she explores a local market and takes a selfie in the city that she calls “ex-boyfriend-style”! It’s full of travel scenes that can only be seen here. If you’re interested, check out the main story on WOWOW On Demand now.
It will be broadcast on WOWOW Prime from midnight on July 14th.
■ Comment from Kento Nakajima
Indian movies were unknown territory to me, but I found a world of dreams and passion. It was my first time in India, and I felt cultural differences in many aspects, such as food, climate, and history. However, I realized that what is common to all countries is that when it comes to the field of “movies,” there is a dream and passion for filmmaking.
Speaking of Indian movies, they have a strong reputation for their music and dance. So this time, I will be dancing in India for the first time. However, this is a movie program, so please be aware of that. Lol
Another movie mecca that’s not Hollywood…this trip will be a little different!
