Sachiko Kobayashi, Shoko Nakagawa, Little Glee Monster and others will appear! “Onigiri & Music Festival” to be held

■Held on October 26th in Minamiuonuma City, Niigata Prefecture, Japan’s number one rice-producing region!

It has been decided that the “Onigiri & Music Festival” will be held at Stage Yashiki no Mori in Yashiki no Mori Park in Minamiuonuma City, Niigata Prefecture on October 26, 2024. This festival, which will be held to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Minamiuonuma City’s municipal incorporation, is also scheduled to be the first local version of the Onigiri Association’s “Onigiri Summit.”

Onigiri is a part of Japanese culture and soul food. Recently, there has been a boom in onigiri specialty stores, with the NHK morning drama series “Omusubi” to be broadcast in the latter half of 2024 and the special feature in the magazine “Hanako” (June 2024 issue) being “Onigiri and Sandwiches.” The TV Tokyo series TV anime “Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin,” which will start broadcasting on July 6th, is based on a rice-growing action game with the catchphrase “Rice is power!” (The ending theme is performed by Little Glee Monster, who will also be performing at this festival). “Onigiri (rice)” has attracted attention, and its reputation continues to grow worldwide, with “onigiri” being included in the English dictionary in the UK.

In addition to delicious rice balls, the “Onigiri & Music Festival” is sure to have a lot of fun with music and comedy shows. The first announcement is that Sachiko Kobayashi, who is from Niigata Prefecture and still grows rice there, will be appearing, as well as Shoko Nakagawa, Little Glee Monster, DJ Misoshiru and MC Gohan, WE3M, and AMEMIYA.

As part of the 20th anniversary project, the official YouTube channel “Minami Uonuma MAX!” will also begin streaming from 10:00 on June 30th. “AMEMIYA’s Minami Uonuma Start,” in which AMEMIYA strolls around Minami Uonuma city singing his original songs, and “Suzuki Q Taro’s Rice (My) Hometown,” a rice growing project by Minami Uonuma native Suzuki Q Taro, are scheduled to be streamed alternately every Sunday.

There will also be a sound attraction called “Mikke Yokai” that uses Locatone(TM)

. By using sounds to find the Minamiuonuma yokai that have gathered in Yairo no Mori Park, you can learn about the history and traditions of Minamiuonuma while having fun.
