Let’s liven up Kumamoto with our “burning fighting spirit”! A dream charity collaboration project between “Kumamon” and “Antonio Inoki” has been decided!

Kumamon has been extremely busy since being appointed Kumamoto Surprise Ambassador in 2010, becoming Kumamoto Prefecture’s Sales Director in 2011 and Kumamoto Prefecture’s Happiness Director in 2014, winning the Yuru-chara® Grand Prix 2011, and participating in a number of successful tie-up projects with various companies.

He is not only active in Japan, but also all over the world, with overseas “business trips” to China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, France, America, Thailand, etc. Sales of related goods have reached a cumulative total of 1.4596 trillion yen since the survey began in 2011, demonstrating his remarkable popularity.

Kumamon has now announced a charity collaboration project with national professional wrestler Antonio Inoki, who passed away on October 1, 2022.

Kumamoto is the hometown of Inoki’s mother, Fumiko Inoki, and is, so to speak, the place where Inoki’s roots lie, so this project was decided upon to liven up Kumamoto.

A T-shirt will be released featuring Kumamon wearing the Fighting Spirit Gown and posing in the “1, 2, 3, Daaa!” pose.

This T-shirt will be on sale exclusively at Kumamon Square, Kumamoto City, Kumamoto Prefecture, Kumamon’s base of operations, the “Burning Fighting Spirit: Antonio Inoki Exhibition” being held at Kumamoto Tsuruya Department Store from June 12th (Wed) to 24th (Mon), New Japan Pro-Wrestling tournament venues, and the Fighting Spirit SHOP online store.

A portion of the sales will be donated to Kumamoto Prefecture to help with the reconstruction of the prefecture.

To promote this project, Kumamon will be appearing at the “Burning Fighting Spirit: Antonio Inoki Exhibition” at Tsuruya Department Store in Kumamoto on Wednesday, June 12th.

They plan to liven up the venue with their “burning fighting spirit.”

My name is Kumamon.
It was created in response to the full opening of the Kyushu Shinkansen line in March 2011.
My job is to find surprises and happiness around us and spread the word about them to people all over the country.
I want everyone to know more and more about Kumamoto, which I love, so I’ll keep going to see more and more!
Please continue to support me and the charming city of Kumamoto!

This is the base of operations and holy ground of Kumamon, who flies all over the country (and sometimes even overseas!) as the sales manager for Kumamoto Prefecture.
It opened in 2013 in response to fans asking, “Where can I meet Kumamon?” and as a space to provide information on Kumamoto Prefecture’s products and tourism.

It has grown into one of the prefecture’s leading tourist spots, attracting many visitors not only from within Japan, but also from Asian countries such as China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Thailand, as well as from overseas.
It will reopen on July 21, 2023, marking its 10th anniversary.

The new facility has been transformed into an even more appealing one with the addition of a new circular stage where visitors can enjoy Kumamon’s performance from various angles and the introduction of AR (augmented reality) content using a large screen.

The museum aims to reach 3.5 million visitors by March 2024.
