Tablet Jun’s new song “Mother”, written by Kato Tokiko, is set to be released!

Tablet Jun’s new song “Mother,” written by Kato Tokiko, will be released as a digital single on June 4th.
The two have had a long-standing relationship, with Tablet Jun making guest appearances at Kato’s live shows.

Kato attended the “Tablet Jun Recital 2023” held at Sogetsu Hall in June last year as one of the audience members.

After the show, he happened to bump into Tablet Jun’s mother and the idea for the piece came to him when he had a conversation with her.
Kato has commented on the release of this new song.

Comment from Tokiko Kato
When I listen to Tablet Jun’s songs, I always end up crying for some reason.
I wonder why this resonates so deeply with me.
I wrote this song in the hope that the beauty and kindness of his voice could be conveyed even more through his songs.
Please make many mothers cry with your songs.

The new song “Mother” will be aired for the first time today on the regular program “Tablet Jun: The Golden Age of Music” (every Saturday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Radio Nippon, Gifu Broadcasting, Radio Kansai).

In addition, on June 4th, the Tablet Jun Recital 2024 will be held at the Shibuya Cultural Center Owada Sakura Hall, where new pieces will also be performed.

Tablet Jun Profile
Real name: Yasuyuki Hashimoto
Date of birth: August 31, 1974
Blood type: A
Zodiac sign: Virgo

He discovered old pop music through AM radio from an early age, and in his adolescence he spent his days collecting second-hand records, listening to them and immersed in studying them. After graduating from high school, he worked in a second-hand bookstore and a care worker before suddenly joining the legendary mood pop group, Wada Hiroshi and the Mahina Stars, as a vocalist under the stage name Jun Tabuchi at the age of 27. He remained with the group for the next two years until Wada Hiroshi passed away. After the group disbanded, he appeared at neo-Showa pop and subculture events at live houses in Tokyo, and in January 2011, he also began performing at vaudeville and comedy shows. He established a new genre called mood pop stand-up comedy, and is considered a heretical presence.
