Fujikawa Chiai releases music video shot entirely on location in New Zealand

Singer-songwriter Fujikawa Chiai has released the music video for her new song “Sagashimono,” which was released digitally today, July 9th.

“Sagashimono” is the new song that is the ending theme for the anime series “Shinmai Ossan Boukensha, Saikyo Party ni Shinuhodo Kitaerarete Muteki ni naru.” which began airing in July. The music video is based on the concept of “a journey to find ‘something shining inside me,'” which is also mentioned in the lyrics, and is a road movie-like work that was shot entirely in New Zealand. As the word “road movie” suggests, Fujikawa filmed the video over a period of five days, traveling around New Zealand by car as he went along with the staff, including director Jinguji Hidemasa. Half of the filming was spent on the road, and the completed work also included scenes that he happened to come across along the way. Fujikawa commented on this work, “It was a haphazard filming trip, and not just prepared scenes, but I realized that I was being filmed looking at my natural self, and that my posture was actually pretty bad. Watching the music video helped me discover new sides to myself.”

Fujikawa will be releasing “Bonjin Kaika” digitally next week on July 17th. He has also announced that he will hold his first overseas solo concert in Shanghai, China on July 21st. Fujikawa, who has enthusiastic support from overseas, will be starting his overseas activities in earnest this year.

NEW! 【Fujikawa Chiai comment】
“Travel” is often likened to “discovering oneself,” but when you’re lost and confused about something, the answer often doesn’t come from just asking yourself questions. I think traveling to unfamiliar places can, without any exaggeration, be an opportunity to discover a new side of yourself.
For this reason, I talked to Director Jinguji about trying to shoot the music video for “Sagashimono” in the style of a road movie, and we flew from Japan in the middle of summer to New Zealand in the middle of winter.
It was a spontaneous filming trip, and before I knew it, I was filming just myself, not just prepared scenes, and I realized that my posture was actually pretty bad. By watching the music video, I was able to discover new sides to myself.
Finally, New Zealand is a very, very wonderful country. If you are on a journey to find yourself, I recommend you to come to New Zealand. You might find something that shines within you.
