Celebrating her 50th year in showbiz, Chieko Mizutani moves to Columbia Records! The legendary duet with Hama Rose, “Maso no Tsuki,” will be released on Friday, August 2nd!!! A video that gives a glimpse of the pair’s performance has also been released!!!

Mizutani Chieko, once known as the “Hokuriku Skylark” and a favorite enka singer of Futaba Shonin, has been in the entertainment industry for 50 years and has now decided to move to Columbia Records, a long-established enka label celebrating its 115th year since being founded by Futaba Music Publishing!

The first release from Columbia Records is the phantom duet song “Maso no Tsuki” with her ally Hama Rose and the pop song “Amaetattete Damesa” which will be a new frontier for Chieko Mizutani. It will be available for download from Friday, August 2nd.

“Maso no Tsuki” was scheduled to be released about 30 years ago at the height of the bubble economy, but the release was canceled due to the influence of the “Akasaka Rebellion,” which caused Chieko Mizutani and Hama Rose to distance themselves from each other. It became a phantom duet song. After performing together at Chieko Mizutani’s Meijiza performance in 2021, they broke their silence for many years and started moving again, and managed to release the song on August 2nd.

“Amaetattete Damesa” is the latest song by Keitaro Futaba, a pop song that sheds light on modern society and marks a new frontier for Chieko Mizutani.

In addition, ahead of the release, a teaser video for Chieko Mizutani x Hama Rose’s “Maso no Tsuki” will be released on Chieko Mizutani’s Instagram on the 26th. The video was recorded in a studio in Tokyo in early June, and gives a glimpse of the two’s well-coordinated performance.

Mizutani Chieko will be holding the “Mizutani Chieko’s Banquet Join Concert” at Meijiza Theater in Tokyo on August 3rd (Sat) and 4th (Sun). She is expected to sing “Maso no Tsuki” with Hama Rose for the first time in three years.

Comment from Chieko Mizutani

Chieko’s new solo song, “Amaetattetedamesa,” is about a cool woman! If you’re going to keep complaining behind closed doors, why not step forward and assert yourself and fight? If you can’t do that, then don’t complain! I think this is exactly the courage and way of life that everyone needs right now! Fight to get a peaceful and kind time.

“Maso no Tsuki” is a collaboration with Hama Rose for the first time in a while. Rose’s singing voice is languid yet seductive, and it gave me goosebumps listening to it next to me! She really can do it!

And here’s the footage we recorded at that time. Rose was actually obedient and sang obediently and properly! (laughs) The way she and Chieko made eye contact and were teasing each other a little shows how close they are! I think you can all see that!

Please look forward to the session with Chieko and listen to “Maso no Tsuki”! Chieko Mizutani
