Tagawa Toshimi Fan Club Request Lunch Show 2024 @ Roppongi CLAPS

Date: August 20th (Tuesday)

Location: Roppongi CLAPS

Attendance: Approximately 70 people

Today, August 20th (Tuesday), singer Tagawa Toshimi held a lunch show for her fan club members at Roppongi CLAPS.

This event is held every summer, and this year is the third time it has been held. Fan club members are asked to vote for Tagawa’s favorite songs, and the set list is decided based on those requests. Every year, the core songs that are unique to fan club members are often voted for.

This year too, votes were cast for hidden gems such as “Okyan” and “Manatsu ni Kyukyukyu” and these were reflected in the set list.

Appearing in a vermilion and white vertical striped yukata arranged to look like a kimono, with a grey sash with a penguin pattern, Tagawa said, “Hello, and welcome to come out in this heat. Thank you so much for coming. Every time, I’m always surprised at what kind of songs people will request. I sometimes practice again based on the requests I receive, and even songs that I didn’t really understand when I sang them as a child, when I listen to them after time has passed, I realize what message they had, and that they were wonderful songs. I feel that everything in my life so far is a treasure,” and at the urging of host Nishiyori Higashi, she began singing the most requested song, “Aishu Minato.”

Next, she laughed and said, “I love summer, it’s the best. In winter I feel like hibernating,” but also said that it is precisely because it is summer that she wants to feel cool, saying, “Many of my songs are winter songs, and many of my songs are about facing yourself because it is winter.”She then sang a selection of winter songs, including “North Coast,” “Sixteenth Night,” and “Sea of Japan in Winter.”

She continued, “I’ll sing some summery songs too. It’s been years since I’ve sung the next song, “Okyan.” I also love the retro feel of “Manatsu ni Kyukyukyu.” She then performed songs that are only available at fan club events, including “Okyan,” “Manatsu ni Kyukyukyu,” and “Himawari ga Witheru Made.” She also said, “I first encountered this song when I was a teenager, and it’s a light, but sad song, even among Hibari’s songs. It’s a song that makes you think there was a time like this in the Showa era,” and sang Misora Hibari’s “Echigo Lion Song.”

“As always, I would like to evolve little by little while being aware of my origins. I will meet many different people and experiences, and be guided by many different people, and I would like to grow even a little through singing. I would also like to be able to help everyone’s hearts through my favorite popular songs. I would like to cherish each and every song that I come across with my body, and be able to be cheerful and bright together with you all,” she said, expressing her gratitude for meeting the members of her fan club, as she sang “Ichigo Ichie.”

She also announced the launch of the “Tagawa Toshimi YouTube Channel” as a major announcement. She said she hopes to “dig deeper into Japanese culture through intercultural exchange with various people.”

They ended the show with their latest song, “Sad Encounter,” delighting the audience of about 70 people who had gathered from as far north as Hokkaido and as far south as Kumamoto.

Finally, Tagawa said, “It’s been a great summer, spending time together like this today. The next fan club event will be at Akiro. It’s even more special to be able to meet everyone again in this close, homely atmosphere. Let’s stay healthy. Thank you for today.” and closed the event.
