Singer-songwriter Koresawa will hold “Koresawa One-Man Show 2024 Kore Theater 05″ in Tokyo, Aichi, Osaka, and Hokkaido. An additional performance was held on December 19, 2024 (Thursday) at Showa Women’s University Hitomi Memorial Auditorium in Tokyo. “Cole Theater” is a movie-like show that takes full advantage of video production and has been held irregularly since 2014, and this time it will be the first time in about 6 years. It’s been about 10 years since the first event was held at a live house with a capacity of 250 people. During that time, Koresawa has been involved in numerous tie-ups, and this tour is also making great strides, with all performances sold out. This performance captivated the audience with its grand scale and performance, showing its growth.
This time, a story that approaches the secret of Koresawa’s character “Reko-chan”. At the scheduled time, a buzzer will sound and a warning before the performance will be played, just like in a movie. Then, an animation drawn by Shinpe Uchibori, who handles the artwork, will be shown. Reko has a gaping hole in her body, and people around her say things like “that’s strange” and “disgusting”. Injured, Reko sets out on a journey to find a way to fill the void. The live performance begins with the narration, “Will you come with me?” and the sound of “shu-shu.” Carrying the same stuffed rabbit as Hareko Koresawa on her back, she stomps her feet to the beat of U (Dr)’s drums. The lyrics of “Choushu”, which depicts the image of Koresawa Toreko and her travels, are linked, stirring up a sense of elation and sadness.
The first thing Reko found on her journey was “Love”. From here, they will perform songs depicting love, such as “Even if I die.” “Good evening, everyone! Are you ready to come with me today? Let’s travel together. Let’s go!”, followed by the live standard song “If you want me to be your girlfriend”. While Kei Higuchi’s (guitarist) sharp guitar playing excited the audience, Koresawa stirred up the crowd, increasing the sense of unity in the venue with claps and handshakes. The song “To All My Ex-Girlfriends,” which is trending on social media, had a karaoke-style video with lyrics played on the screen, and a huge chorus of voices broke out.
“Actually, I brought my boyfriend with me today, can I introduce him to you?” he asked Inu-kun, and Koresawa said, “I have something I want to say to you,” and sang “I’m sorry if I cheated on you.” Koresawa and Inukun take steps in a friendly manner to the groove created by Shoko Nakamura (Bas) and other bands. However, towards the end of the song, Koresawa’s jealousy intensified along with the performance. He tried to grab the dog, but in the end they managed to make up. In “Last Train”, a taxi appears on stage in a nostalgic direction for the participants of the previous Kore Theater, when the song “Taxi Stop” is sung. Koresawa gets into a taxi and leaves the stage, linking with the video.
At this point, the video appears on the screen again along with the narration. Although Reko feels happy after finding “Love”, the hole still remains unfilled. “On the contrary, I ended up hurting myself even though I loved myself, I lost faith in myself, and I discovered things I didn’t like about myself. I just wanted to love myself more.” – A glittering scene that made you think you were actually in a planetarium. A bright light shines through, and Koresawa appears with a changed costume. The sad ballad “I longed for the planetarium”, “Itaiitai” with a hasty beat, and “I don’t want to go home” delivered with a lively band sound in a different arrangement than the original, all set to colorful sounds. Colorful penlights lit up the audience seats as they performed a number depicting the pain and conflict of love, saying, “I don’t have a boyfriend, just tonight.” Additionally, in “Sayonara Koibito,” a video shot of Koresawa from her boyfriend’s perspective is played using a smartphone. Although animation was the main focus of this performance, live-action Koresawa footage was shown during this scene, creating a sense of sadness.
After the narration, “I was very sad about my heartbreak, but I felt like I had become a little stronger. But this hole still hasn’t closed. And Reko-chan was all alone.”After that, Koresawa plays an acoustic guitar and sings, “ Sing “Laugh, Otome”. The audience sang along, filling the venue with a warm atmosphere, but when the song finished, whispers and the words “disgusting” echoed through the air. “Stop it!” Koresawa covered her ears and ran off stage, while Reko-chan on the screen also burst into tears. Then, the stuffed rabbit that Reko was holding started to move and snuggled up to her, asking, “Did something sad happen?” When Reko timidly showed the hole, a rabbit jumped into it and said, “I’ll always be by your side.” After that, Koresawa appeared on stage with a change of costume, and performed “Yuuuu wo Aishite” with the music video in the background. The content of the music video touches on the secret of the hole of leak, and the story gets to the heart of the story.
Protecting Reko from the “moyamomo” of her heart and holding the battered rabbit in her arms, Reko tearfully says, “I’ll always be by your side.” Touched by the kindness, the rabbit grew wings and took off, saying, “I have to go. See you again.” They then performed “Moon” with a video of a rabbit heading for the moon in the background. Koresawa gently and delicately delivered the song, set on a majestic sound that made use of synth drums and bass. As the story reaches its climax, we move on to “Please Santa Claus,” which will be unveiled only this season. An illustration of a window frame is projected, and snow is falling outside. While the keyboard sounds of Akie Shimoyama (Key) echoed solemnly, the audience seats were bathed in Christmas colors of red and green with penlights.
Koresawa asked, “This year is almost over, but what kind of year did you all spend in 2024?” Looking back, “I think this year was a very good year.” In addition to two tours and numerous TV appearances, this year is an indispensable part to talk about Koresawa’s career, such as winning the lyrics award at the Japan Record Awards for “Superlative ni Kawaii no!”, which was submitted to Cho Tokimeki♡ Advertising Department. It must have been a very fruitful year. During the retrospective talk, Koresawa is surprised to see Santa Claus suddenly passing by outside the window. When the members didn’t believe that Santa had appeared, he suggested, “Santa might come if we pretend to be asleep, so let’s get ready for bed.” When all the members put on nightcaps and turned off the lights, footsteps could be heard and presents were placed on the stage. Outside the window, Santa could be seen transforming into a rabbit and flying off into the night sky.
The gift box contained a stuffed cat, and Koresawa was very happy. “Thank you, Santa!” and played “Meow Meow Meow.” Reko, holding the same stuffed cat as Koresawa, said, “Even sad partings can sometimes lead to wonderful encounters.” “I’m not alone, and I’ve decided to love you through the hard days and the happy days.” I turned and started walking forward.
As the live performance approached its ending, the excitement soared with the upper tune “SPARK!!”. They then try to play “SSW”, but Inu-kun barges in during the performance. Inu-kun ends up having an affair with his ex-girlfriend, but in a fit of regret, he shows off a love letter Koresawa wrote a long time ago. The letter, written “To my dearest dog,” elicited laughter from the audience, and Koresawa fainted from embarrassment. The performance will also be interrupted. Then, an RPG game-like screen appears on the screen asking the audience, “Can you help this?/Can’t you?” and “How can you help this?” They did their best by giving out parfaits and waving penlights, and in the end, with the loud cheers of the fans, Koresawa was revived. “You’re such a persistent dog! I have such wonderful people, so please forget about me and throw that letter away! Thank you for everything~” she said with a bazooka, driving her ex-boyfriend away. .
Koresawa urged, “Thank you everyone for always giving me energy and courage! My butt hurts from sitting, so why don’t you try standing up?” and the audience stood up all at once. “Next, I would like to give happiness to everyone with this song. Will you sing and dance with me?I hope that everyone will continue to live a life where they can do as many things as they like with the people they like. “I put a lot of thought into it,” and moved on to the last number, “♡Life♡.” The venue was filled with happiness as pink and silver tape danced and Koresawa descended into the audience to sing alongside the fans.
“No matter what I did, this hole wouldn’t close. But that’s okay,” Reko thought. No matter who I am, I’m sure to be wonderful. It’s thanks to everyone that I came to think that way!” The video plays and the end credits begin. The live painting by Shinpe Uchibori left a warm impression on the hearts of the viewers.
After the end credits, Koresawa, the members, and Uchibori Shinpe appeared for the curtain call. In addition, the 4th album “To You Who Chose Me and You Who Didn’t Choose Me” will be released on March 19, 2025, and his largest capacity “Koresawa LIVE TOUR” will tour 18 locations nationwide from May to August. 2025 We have announced that we will be holding a tour with you who chose me.
This performance adds a new interpretation to the songs by performing the songs that have been released so far in the context of the story. The story was connected to Koresawa’s own life and the lives of the fans who saw the concert. In his final speech, Koresawa said, “I would be happy if everyone could remember something important or feel something through this “Kore Theater”.Thanks to everyone…”, he said with emotion. “Thank you everyone, really. It was a great live show,” she said, tearfully expressing her gratitude. “I’m working hard and writing a lot of new songs, so please look forward to it. And let’s meet again in good health!” He concluded. The venue was filled with the loudest applause and cheers of the day, and “Cole Theater 05” came to a close with laughter and tears.
