Hikawa Kiyoshi covers his own “originality” “Red Sweet Pea” and will be released on May 28th with a jacket drawn by himself!

Hikawa Kiyoshi has decided to cover Matsuda Seiko’s classic song “Akai Sweet Pea,” and release it on May 28th.
The arrangements are done by music producer Kameda Seiji. Furthermore, the jacket was drawn by Hikawa himself.
This work highlights his diverse talent as an artist.
Released in 1982 and loved by generations, “Red Sweet Pea” is a song that has special meaning for Hikawa.
He discovered this song in his childhood and was captivated by the world of singing, which inspired him to become a singer.
Hikawa said, “I first heard this song when I was five years old, and it was during Matsuda Seiko’s first concert at Fukuoka Sun Palace, the first concert I had ever been to, taken by my aunt and mother. Seiko was so cute, sparkly, beautiful, and I was so childish that I was excited, and I felt a sense of excitement, and I sympathize with the world of Matsumoto Takashi’s lyrics and the feelings of the girl who was the main character. It’s a very refreshing feeling to be able to sing while remembering my honest, unsatisfactory feelings when I was five. I sang KIINA’s feelings as Kiyoshi Hikawa, putting KIINA’s feelings into this “Red Sweet Pea.” I would be happy if many people could listen to it. ” commented.
With deep respect for the original, the cover breathes new life with Hikawa’s unique sensibility, and is finished in a gentle and close to the hearts of listeners.
Furthermore, for the first time, Hikawa himself took a brush and used an illustration on the jacket, which was drawn with a single “red sweet pea” motif, making this work condensed with the “Hikawa Kiyoshi + KIINA.’s personality” in both music and art.
The “Red Sweet Pea” is scheduled to be performed at his own concert to be held in his hometown of Fukuoka (Fukuoka Civic Hall) on May 22nd and 23rd, and will likely be a valuable opportunity to experience Hikawa’s feelings about this masterpiece on stage soon.

Hikawa Kiyoshi’s full comment
We will be covering Matsuda Seiko’s famous song “Akai Sweet Pea” and streaming it digitally. Thank you very much.
The first time I heard this song was at the age of five, when my aunt and mother took me to Matsuda Seiko’s concert at Fukuoka Sun Palace, the first concert I had in my life. Seiko was so cute and sparkly, beautiful, and I was so childish that I was excited, and I still remember the excitement I felt at that time clearly and I could relate to the world of Matsumoto Takashi’s lyrics and the feelings of the protagonist, the girl.
It has been 43 years since I was five years old. Since then, I have been influenced by many things and have sung across genres, but in the pure, white campus that I felt the charm of the song, and in the pure, white campus of that time, when I felt the charm of the song, I could instantly find “Red Sweet Pea” and it’s a refreshing feeling to be able to sing while remembering my honest, unsatisfactory feeling when I was five years old. Although he doesn’t make a sound when he was 5 years old, he sang KIINA’s feelings as Hikawa Kiyoshi with the words “Red Sweet Pea.” I would be happy if many people could listen to it.
I also drew the jacket for the digital distribution, and I drew a picture of red sweet pea and tried to express my true feelings. This time, Kameda Seiji arranged the arrangement and was there to the recording with a smile. I think people in the 50, 60, and 70 years old listened to this song in real time during their youth, but it was a different feeling from then on, and if you enjoyed listening to it with Kameda Seiji’s arrangements, Kameda will be pleased. Thank you very much for your cooperation.
