It has been decided that enka singer Mochizuki Ryuka’s new single “Wagamama” will be released on July 23rd. The lyrics and music are written by Komuro Tetsuya, a legend in the Japanese music world. A bold enka arrangement of the original song written by Komuro has been completed, and a new song that will be a new ground for Mochizuki.
Mochizuki Ryuka has been a successful career, releasing five singles so far, including debuting as an enka singer in 2020 and winning the Newcomer Award for Record Awards. Meanwhile, she made her debut in April as a member of the three-member female unit “OVAL SISTEM,” produced by Komuro Tetsuya. OVAL SISTEM is responsible for keyboards, rap and vocals, and develops music that combines elements of electro, rock and pop. As he released his new work as an enka singer this time, he received a passionate offer from Mochizuki and received a song from Mr. Komuro, who produces OVAL SISTEM, but the arrangements are made by Miyazaki Shinji, who has worked on song arrangements for Kitajima Saburo and Shinnuma Kenji. Komuro’s sad lyrics and melody depicting the love of a modern woman’s perspective are beautifully arranged, and the world expressed by Mochizuki’s transparent voice presents a new worldview of enka.
A concert has also been decided to celebrate the 5th anniversary of his debut and the release of his new song on Thursday, July 24th, the day after the release date of “Wagamama.” Guests include Sumida Aiko, who forms a unit for OVAL SISTEM, and Aicong, who belongs to the same agency and is known as the Komuro Tetsuya Sound Producer Unit, rushing to the concert to liven up Mochizuki’s memorial.
We’ll be looking forward to Mochizuki Ryuka, who is not bound by the boundaries of enka singers, in the future.
[Mochizuki Ryuka Comment]
Komuro Tetsuya has recently provided the enka song “Wagamama.”
The delicate melody drawn by Komuro and the powerful yet emotional arrangements by Miyazaki Shinji combine to expand the new world of enka that has never been seen before. When I first heard the song, my heart started to heat up, and I was so excited that I wanted to deliver this work in my own voice. I put all the sadness and hopeless trembling feelings behind the word selfishness into my singing voice.
For me, who has listened to a lot of Komuro’s music, this piece is a dream song. I would like many people to listen to it, and I would be happy if it would open a new door to not only enka fans, but also those who have not experienced enka before.
