In order to revitalize nighttime tourism and create new tourism resources that will brighten up Tokyo’s nightlife, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government is showcasing projection mapping year-round, using the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building, a representative landmark, as a canvas to create a variety of artistic works using light and sound.

This time, in addition to the work that was collaborated with YOASOBI’s song “Stage,” we will begin screening three works by top creators that have been highly praised at international competitions.

Please take note of this initiative, which combines high artistic quality with world-leading technology and content.

[YOASOBI “On the Stage”

■Overview of the work

The song was written with the imagery of the conflicts and excitement that athletes face in mind, and will give you the push you need to take a courageous step forward. Enjoy the collaboration with projection mapping that expresses this worldview.

■Artist Profile

YOASOBI is a “unit that turns novels into music.” Their debut song “Racing into the Night,” released in November 2019, topped various domestic digital charts. The group will celebrate their fifth anniversary in October 2024, and as a representative of J-POP and an artist making their mark on the world, they have been active in various fields both at home and abroad.

This work is a kaleidoscope of vibrant colors that depicts Tokyo, a metropolis where tradition and modernity, innovation and creativity come together.

The video depicts the diversity of Tokyo, such as the neon signs of the city at night and the greenery of the parks, while also sprinkling in colorful color schemes, creating a dynamic image.

This work by a French creator expresses the friendship between Japan and France by depicting iconic buildings from both countries using thousands of delicate particles that blend together one after the other.

The fantastical and powerful images that combine the three buildings of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building, the Five-Story Pagoda, and Notre Dame Cathedral are a must-see.

As a graphic designer, musician, computer programmer and multimedia artist, he combines different media to provide people with fascinating experiences, including projection mapping of historical buildings in France.
