◆At the World Cosplay Championship 2024, Japan’s representative takes the title for the first time in 12 years with “Naruto”!

At the World Cosplay Championship 2024 held on Saturday, August 3rd, the Japanese representative team (Mamemayo and Mioshi) won the grand championship with their cosplay of “NARUTO”. The World Cosplay Championship is a competition in which participants compete on stage performances of Japanese anime and games within 2 minutes and 30 seconds, and on the perfection of their costumes.

This is the first time in 12 years since 2012 that a Japanese team has won this honor. In second place was Sweden’s “My Neighbor Totoro,” and in third place was Germany’s “Monster Hunter Double Cross,” demonstrating the outstanding skills and performances of each country and region.

The Japanese team, Mamemayo and Mioshi, competed in costumes of the characters “Naruto Uzumaki” and “Sasuke Uchiha” from the popular series “NARUTO”. They performed a dynamic stage performance that incorporated the theme of Japanese festivals, and received thunderous cheers from the audience.

Mioshi expressed her gratitude, saying, “We owe this victory to everyone who supported us,” and Mamemayo expressed her joy, saying, “We were able to receive this award thanks to our teachers and teammates who taught us, and everyone here today. Thank you so much for the ‘Dattebayo’!”

Approximately 1,000 cosplayers participated in the Osu Cosplay Parade

The Osu Cosplay Parade, one of the highlight events of the World Cosplay Summit 2024, was held on Sunday, August 4th at the Osu Shopping Arcade in Naka Ward, Nagoya. Approximately 1,000 cosplayers participated, and many spectators gathered along the route. In addition to representatives from each country and region who participated in the World Cosplay Championship, ordinary cosplayers also participated in the parade, and it was bustling with colorful costumes.

The Osu Cosplay Parade not only helped to popularize cosplay culture, but also contributed greatly to revitalizing the local area.
