“Re:Born,” the ultimate reality survival show that delves into the inside and outside of K-POP, will start airing on Space Shower TV and ABEMA from 10pm on Friday, September 27th!
“Prince of Asia” Jang Keun-suk has been chosen as the MC for “Re:Born,” a reality survival show in which 12 K-pop boy groups who have already debuted in Korea (AIMERS, BeMAX, BXB, DIGNITY, DKB, DXMON, EASTSHINE, E’LAST, L5ST, WAKER, WEUS, XODIAC *in alphabetical order) compete in earnest for a chance to debut in Japan.
Jang Keun-suk has experience as an MC on the Korean survival program “PRODUCE 101” season 1 in 2016, but “Re:Born” will be his first time as an MC on a TV program broadcast in Japan. It will be fascinating to see what Jang Keun-suk, the ultimate entertainer who is immensely popular as both a unique actor and an artist, thinks about and says to the K-POP boys as they take on the battle of their lives, and how he will support and lead them to greater heights.
Jang Keun-suk made his debut in Japan in 2011, and his first single “Let me cry” became the first foreign artist to debut at number one on the Oricon singles chart. His subsequent first album “Just Crazy” also debuted at number one on the Oricon album chart, making him the first foreign male solo artist to achieve this feat and leading to his big break in Japan. He is still loved by many Japanese people for his fluent Japanese and friendly personality.
Jang Keun-suk has achieved great success in Japan, Korea and throughout Asia, but his long career in showbiz has not always been smooth. He has overcome every challenge with his own efforts and established himself as a top actor and artist. In the past few years, various programs have been produced amid fierce competition, so much so that we can say that we live in an age where audition programs are overflowing. I felt this when I participated as a producer of the first generation of audition programs, but rather than the fun and entertainment value of the broadcast, it may be a moment and opportunity that will become someone’s entire life. And I think we should not overlook the fact that we belittle the dreams and passions of those people or treat them as mere entertainment. I would like to continue making programs while constantly discussing this point with the production team. I think that is at least my role as a senior who protects and supports my juniors. I wholeheartedly welcome the performers, and I will do my best if I can be of any help to Korean singers as they make their debut in Japan.

In a survival show, the role of the MC is really big, sometimes scolding the group honestly and sometimes helping them honestly. That’s why, after many discussions with the production team, we offered Jang Keun-suk the role of MC this time. Jang Keun-suk is a very successful star, but he also has extraordinary human strength because he has had a lot of hardships up until now. I thought he would understand boy groups that are in a tough situation now more than anyone else, and I was convinced that he would be the person who could give them the advice they needed most, so I asked him to be the MC without hesitation. Since “Re:Born” is a survival show, there are naturally winners and losers, but I hope that viewers will pay attention to the growth and human strength of the boy group through the show.
