Anzu is walking briskly through the streets of Yokohama on her way to work in a cool, black “New Basic” style. When I enter a street cafe to buy coffee, I pass her in an “Urban Trad” style, wearing a bright yellow knit, a suit and a beret. With her favorite coffee in hand and a smile in her hand, she turns the corner and the situation quickly changes to a certain room.

Anne, dressed in her “Graphical Elegant” style with a scarf around her neck, is sitting on a sofa and holding an acoustic guitar.

As the camera passes through the clothing racks, Anne appears wearing a “Modern Layered” style, with a white cardigan layered over a brown outerwear.

After striking a pose in a fashion show style, the scene shifts back to the city. Anne, dressed in an “Urban Minimal” style and wearing a sophisticated grey coat, looks into the camera. She turns around and starts walking into the city. As she changes between five different styles, one after the other, “23ku” expresses its stance of embracing the diverse styles of each individual person together with Anne.

[Interview details]

-Is there a way you refresh yourself between work or your daily routine?

Sometimes I realize that I haven’t been breathing deeply, so I try to take a deep breath or straighten my back when I notice it. Or, if I have some space, I try stretching. I hope that by doing things like that, I can refresh myself and do something good for my body.

While I was shooting in Yokohama this time, I looked around various general stores and thought, “I wonder if there’s a present for someone,” and if I found something nice, I bought it and kept it, even if it was only about six months before the birthday, or I think looking for it again can be a great way to change your mood.

-Is there anything you would like to try as an actress in the future?

I have been to overseas locations as a model several times, but even if the job is to express oneself in front of the camera, the manners and industry terminology are slightly different, which I found very interesting and intriguing. I’m sure the way things are called, the flow of things on location, and each and every way of thinking differs depending on the country, so I think it would be very interesting to see such things. Since I’m currently living in Paris, France, I would like to participate in any productions set in Paris.

-Apart from acting, is there anything else you would like to try?

I’m currently studying languages, but when I’m abroad, I often have the opportunity to talk to strangers as I pass them by, and they often ask me things like, “Oh, that’s nice,” about each other’s fashion, or, “What language are you guys speaking right now?” However, it just becomes a question-and-answer kind of conversation, and the conversation never really expands. When I look around me in cafes, I often see people talking for a while (even if it’s the first time we’ve met), so I hope that one day I’ll be able to speak that well.

-Is there an episode where you were able to overcome something with the support of those around you?

When I’m in Japan with my children, on the day I return to Paris, quite a few friends gather to help me pack. They play with my children or catch up on conversations they haven’t had in a while, and it’s become like a regular event. I’m glad that everyone gets together despite their busy schedules. Packing with children is quite difficult. There are a lot of (unnecessary) things that get packed or left out (laughs). In addition, you have to be careful about weight and quantity, and since Anne is not very good at adjusting weight and quantity, a friend who is good at it packs while measuring things. I organize things, which is something only I can do, and everyone helps me by dividing up the roles.

-Do you have any tips for staying comfortable during the hot summer?

It’s hot in Paris too, but there aren’t many air conditioners, so there’s not much of a place to escape (laughs). There’s no place to rest and say, “Ah! It’s cool!”, so the first thing I do is hydrate. I tend to forget to drink water, so I try to make a conscious effort to drink water. Also, on the other hand, I take a warm bath or drink a warm drink, and sweat to cool down. I want to incorporate something to feel cool.

-Please tell us the thoughts behind this item.

Recently, I’ve been wearing a lot of colorful clothing. One reason is so that my children can easily see me from a distance, but I also feel like colors have a power to them, they make me feel energized and even brighten my mood.

When I was asked to make a knit, I suggested something colorful. After comparing a few colors by showing me color samples and having them made in actual size, I decided on two colors that can be worn both still and active, and can be worn chic and mature, or bright and lively. The yellow is not shiny, but a little calm, but not too dark. The blue is a bright and eye-catching color, but also a little calm, and I feel that the combination of the two nuances gives each color its own charm. It can be worn casually with denim or pants, or with a skirt, and I think it looks great with both wide and tight bottoms.
