A singer who excels at sublimating jazz and world music into modern beats, she is the lead vocalist of the modern funk band SUPER CATS and a member of the Afro-soul jazz band Thirty-rd Place. YUIMA ENYA The first 12-inch“MALAKA REMIXES”will be released on September 12th.

This is a collection of noteworthy remixes of “MALAKA,” the title track from YUIMA ENYA’s first album, by four groups and five artists at the forefront of Japan’s underground club music scene: ALTZ, Ramza, CALPISS & DJ Moras, and DJ snuc.

From that 12-inch record, the Osaka genius ALTZ has beautifully reconstructed YUIMA ENYA’s singing voice.“MALAKA ALTZ Remix”will be available for pre-order from August 22nd.

A teaser video was also released.

One song will be released as a digital single each week, with the record going on sale in the fourth week on September 12th.

YUIMA ENYA

YUIMA ENYA moved to New York at the age of 18 and majored in jazz vocals at The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music. Outside of school, he attended dance studios and absorbed a wide range of expressions and music, and began composing with his unique sensibility and wide range of expressiveness. He is skilled at sublimating jazz and world music into modern beats.

In 2022, he released his first solo album “MALAKA” on vinyl along with streaming services. He participated in TAMTAM and CAT BOYS as a featured vocalist. The CAT BOYS 7-inch single “Feel Like Makin’ Love (cover)” released in 2020 sold 2,000 copies.

The bands YUIMA ENYA is currently in, SUPER CATS and Thiird Place, released their first albums in April and May, respectively.

On May 23rd, he digitally released the shocking collaborative work “Waidai” with the veteran DJ/track maker JAKAM as JUZU aka MOOCHY, which has been met with great buzz.

ALTZ (Altzmusica)

ALTZ is a genius from Osaka who has released music on important global labels such as DFA, led by James Murphy.

He has released many albums and EPs from overseas labels such as “DFA” in the US, “BEAR FUNK” in the UK, “Mad on the moon” and “bosconi” in Italy, and many songs from his own label “Altzmusica”. He is very active and diverse in his work, including producing bands, teaming up with rapper RITTO on the “Yuuhi wa Akaku” project by Yuzo Kayama, and producing TV commercials.

The DJ also blends a wide range of elements such as jazz, house, breaks, techno, electro and acid with a unique sensibility honed in the underground, bringing surprises to the dance floor through the sound system.

In spring 2024, a new album by the new unit Spiritual-II will be released digitally.
