Fender artist-contract guitarist Erino Yumiki released a cover video of legendary guitarist Masaki Matsubara’s “Silly Crush” on the Erino Yumiki/Yumiki Toy YouTube Channel on June 1st.
Yumiki has attracted attention for his technical and sometimes intense guitar playing, which is a contrast to his looks. After studying abroad at a music college in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 2021, he became a very popular guitarist in the online community and music industry through his videos posted on YouTube.
The song that Yumiki has attempted to cover this time is “Silly Crush” (2.74 million plays on Spotify as of the end of May 2024), which is included in the album “Painted Woman” released in 1983 by legendary guitarist Matsubara Masaki, who has added color to a variety of songs from city pop to popular songs. The song is currently being listened to in many areas around the world, including LA and Jakarta, and is a hot topic.
He plays an incredibly tight groove using cutting technique, and when he switches to the guitar solo he plays with a big smile on his face, making for a truly adorable performance of No. 18, so be sure to check out the video.
The “play that transcends 40 years” between the much talked about Yumiki and Matsubara Masaki, who is on the verge of breaking through overseas, is definitely worth seeing and listening to.

He started playing the violin at the age of two and a half and began his musical career. At the age of 13, he was shocked when he heard The Beatles’ “Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da,” and spent his days borrowing his father’s guitar and copying Beatles songs. At the age of 15, he began producing original songs using MTR, and made his major debut as a singer-songwriter in 2009. After that, in 2012, he began working as a guitarist, mainly supporting live performances and recording. From 2013 to 2020, he was an official member of KIRINJI. In 2019, he launched his solo project “Yumiki Toy” and released the album “Minna Omocha Ni Naritai No Sa.” He is currently in charge of the opening theme and narration for the anime “Chikip Dancers,” which has been airing on NHK since 2021. He continues to explore the possibilities of the guitar through supporting various artists and posting videos on YouTube.
