“I still” by KOHTA YAMAMOTO feat. Maya Akechi has been selected as the ending theme for “The Demon King’s Strongest Magician Was Human,” which will begin airing on July 3, 2024. The TV anime “The Demon King’s Strongest Magician Was a Human” is a dark fantasy about the protagonist, Ike, who was raised as a demon and is feared as the Demon King’s strongest magician, hiding the fact that he is human while aiming for coexistence between demons and humans.

The second PV, released on June 16th, features the ending theme “I still” by KOHTA YAMAMOTO feat. Akechi Maya, giving us a sneak peek at this beautiful ballad filled with Ike’s wishes and prayers for a world where demons and humans can coexist in harmony.

KOHTA YAMAMOTO composed and arranged the opening theme “Ctrl C” for this work, and also produced the soundtrack. KOHTA YAMAMOTO has been active in many popular works such as the TV anime “Attack on Titan The Final Season” and NHK Drama 10 “Ooku”, and as the second part of a new project featuring vocals by KOHTA YAMAMOTO, he continues to color the work with music in a comprehensive manner, following the first part.

I am truly honored to be involved in the entire music for this film, including the opening theme that was announced the other day and the background music!
I’m really looking forward to the broadcast, and this work has become something I treasure.
The second vocal project, “I still,” was produced with Satie’s past circumstances and her faith in Ike in mind.
The lyrics and vocals are by Maya Akechi.
Maya’s lyrics and the power of her unique vocals have resulted in a ballad that is like a prayer.
I’m grateful to Maya for further expanding the musical world I wanted to express with this song!

I believe the main theme of this work is “coexistence,” and I wrote the lyrics with a prayerful feeling that it would be great if everyone could live on an equal footing, accepting and rejecting various people, lifestyles, and ways of thinking.

I had never completed a song with someone other than my band before, so it was a very refreshing experience. I was familiar with KOHTA’s other works, so I was very nervous and happy, and the recording was very calm and exciting, so it was fun.

I would be happy if many people could listen to my work.
