Singer-songwriter A-ko (pronounced: Eiko) has released teaser videos for all the songs from her first album “GENE,” which will be released on July 10th, on YouTube.
The video was shot in Austin, Texas, USA, where A-ko performed at the music festival SXSW in March. A-ko, disguised as an interviewer, asks SXSW attendees to listen to songs from the album and then reports on their impressions.
The video is full of variety, including straightforward responses from people who listened to the songs, such as “This should be heard all over Japan,” and “It’s sure to be a big hit,” as well as scenes of people getting excited and dancing freely with A-ko. This teaser video shows the reactions of the people gathered at SXSW, one of the world’s largest multi-purpose events, to A-ko, and also gives you a sneak preview of the entire album, so be sure to check it out.
A-ko’s first album, “GENE,” is her first full album and contains 13 songs, including “I Can’t Love All of Me,” which attracted attention as the opening theme for TV Tokyo’s Drama 24, “First Love, Zarari,” her major debut single “Wakusei,” which was played on 36 AM and FM stations nationwide, and five new songs: “Good Morning,” “Beige and Pink,” “Miss U,” “Boring,” and “Borderline.”
The Blu-ray “MACHINE” will also include newly filmed acoustic live footage and a documentary featuring behind-the-scenes footage from the “SXSW” stage held in Texas, USA in March.
In addition, the band will hold their first free live concert “Good News Sessions” on July 23rd at Club eX in Shinagawa. Those who pre-order or purchase “GENE” during the period will be given a serial code and will be entered into a drawing to be invited. Singer-songwriter. She began her career as an artist in earnest in 2020. A-ko produces many emotional songs herself. Her creative team, londog, also takes the lead in producing music videos and other works, making her a very diverse group.
In September 2020, they released their first EP “Potential MISTY”, in January 2021 their second EP “ANTI BLUE”, and in December 2023 their third EP “Steal your heart” on their independent label londog. To date, they have released three EPs and 15 singles.
In 2023, a-ko’s first Tokyo-Osaka tour, “a-ko Live Tour 2023 “l’m crazy now, over you”” will be held at Umeda Shangri-La and Shibuya CLUB QUATTRO, with all tickets sold out.
The band will make their major debut in February 2024 with “Wakusei” through Pony Canyon/IRORI Records.
They will release their first album, “GENE,” on July 10, 2024, and will hold the “a-ko Live Tour 2024 “Umbilical Cord”” in August.
