Even after the sudden death of vocalist and songwriter Sato Shinji in 1999, Fishmans have continued to perform live, led by drummer Mogi Kinichi (currently with Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra), and are still gaining new listeners around the world.
A special program called “Fishmans TV,” which will showcase what Fishmans is up to now, will be live-streamed on Fishmans’ official YouTube channel from 8pm on July 16th.
The program is packed with special features, including rare live performances that can only be seen here, information on the latest releases, and information on upcoming live performances.
On July 24th, vinyl versions of the all-time best songs “Kuuchuu” and “Uchuu,” which fans have been requesting to be released on vinyl, will also be released, so please look forward to them along with the program.

profile
A one-of-a-kind band that blazed through the 90s with its ever-changing songs, crystal clear vocals, tight rhythms and heavy grooves. In 1999, vocalist/songwriter Sato Shinji suddenly passed away, forcing the band to suspend activities, but leader Mogi Kinichi’s passion led to a relaunch in 2005. They continue to perform Sato Shinji’s songs as “music of the present.”
His sound, which incorporates rock, funk and hip-hop with a base of reggae, dub and rocksteady, and his lyrics, which are beautiful and sad at the same time, have influenced many musicians and creators. Since the ban on subscription services was lifted, his work has become known around the world and he has received enthusiastic support from discerning listeners.
