Singer-songwriter Abe Mao has released a surprise digital single, “Hands and Dance,” ahead of the release of her new album, “NOW.”
The new song was first performed during Abe Mao YouTube Live, which was streamed live on July 2nd and attracted a large audience.
Before the performance on YouTube Live, she talked about the thoughts she put into the song, saying, “In everyone’s heart, there is naturally light and shadow, and there is black and white. It’s actually normal to go up and down. We tend to think that feeling depressed or down is not good, but that’s not the case. What goes up comes down and then goes up again, and everything moves forward in this cycle, right? If you know that you are just going up and down and moving forward normally, you can rest easy and everything will be okay. That’s what the song is about. “Hands and Dance” means to hold hands and dance, but if you can accept the light and shadow, white and black, bright and dark parts within you as they are, and accept that we each exist, and have the attitude of holding hands and dancing, then no problems will arise, right? That’s the feeling I put into the song.”
A large-scale rock number with an English chorus. This song, which fully demonstrates Mao Abe’s singing ability, is sure to raise expectations for her 11th new album, “NOW,” which will finally be released on August 7th. In addition, a re-edited live video of “Hands and Dance” from the live stream will be released at 9:00 p.m. on July 17th. The live stream was directed by Tsugumi Matsunaga.
In addition, the tracks included in the new album “NOW” were also announced. The CD will include 10 songs in total, including “Hands and Dance” released on July 17th, “I’ve Got the Power”, the first single since going independent and establishing the label, “Keep Your Fire Burning”, the ending theme to the popular overseas anime “The Unwanted Immortal Adventurer”, and “To Advance”, the image song for the manga “I Want to Forget You”.
The Blu-ray will include the making of the album “NOW” as well as 17 live videos from the Spotify O-EAST performance in Tokyo as part of the “Acoustic Live Tour “I’ve Got the Power” held in October 2023.
Abe Mao has also announced that she will hold an arena-sized solo concert titled “Abe Mao Live 2025 -15th ANNIVERSARY- at Tokyo Garden Theater” on January 26, 2025, as the final performance of her 15th anniversary tour starting in August. This will be her first large-scale solo concert since “Abe Mao Live No.8 ~10th Anniversary Special~,” which was held at Nippon Budokan and Kobe World Memorial Hall on the 10th anniversary of her debut, so it will be a special performance that new and old fans will not want to miss. The second round of FC advance tickets will start on July 17, so don’t miss it.
