Sawabe Wataru’s solo project Skirt’s new song “With the Swaying Rhythm of the Subway feat. Murakami Motoi (Zainichi Funk)” was released digitally on August 21st, and the official audio was also made available on YouTube.
This song, arranged by Zainichi Funk’s Motoi Murakami as sound producer, was produced with the aim of creating a sound similar to the 70’s disco band Savannah Band, which Sawabe has been greatly influenced by in recent years, and is a gorgeous song with a gorgeous and stylish arrangement by Skirt’s first big band arrangement. In addition to the light rhythm and glittering big band sound created by the luxurious musicians, the quote of a line from the poem of PIZZICATO FIVE’s masterpiece “Hi no Ataru Boulevard” released in 1994 and the dark melody line sung by Sawabe are exquisitely intertwined to create a superb Savannah Band song. This is Skirt’s second consecutive feature song release since their previous work “Nami no Nai Natsu feat. adieu”.
A new artist photo was also released to coincide with the release. The new photo was taken by up-and-coming photographer Goku Noguchi, and is a photo that matches the texture of the film with Sawabe’s melancholy expression, so be sure to check it out.

This unhealthy pop band has gained a reputation among people of all professions, genders, and ages for their somewhat dark yet refreshing songwriting and band ensemble.
In 2006, Wataru Sawabe started his solo project, focusing on multi-track recordings. In 2010, he launched his own label, Kachuka Sounds, and began to take his activities in earnest with the release of his first album, “S.O.S.”
In April 2021, he collaborated with PUNPEE on the opening theme song for the anime series Odd Taxi, Odd Taxi. With his extensive knowledge of comedy, in September 2023, he was a judge for the finals of the UNDER 25 OWARAI CHAMPIONSHIP, a comedy award race limited to those under 25 years old, and wrote the theme song for the competition, Hope and Premonition. He has also been involved in the production of music for numerous other animations, movies, and dramas. In addition, his songwriting skills have led to him providing songs for Takashi Fujii, Kaede (Negicco), Touko Miura, adieu (Moka Kamishiraishi), and others. Furthermore, as a multi-player, Sawabe has participated in live performances and recordings by Spitz, Makoto Kawamoto, Moonriders, and others whom he himself admires, making him a wonderful singer-songwriter and band that attracts attention for its diverse talents and genres.
