Misekai, a story connected by two illustrations, “Utakata Shoujo” now available for streaming & Music Video released! “This song was born from stripping away the complicated aspects of summer.”

Misekai, a mixed-gender unit consisting of Amaarashi and Chikusari, with the concept of “creating songs inspired by visuals”, digitally released their new song “Utakata Shoujo” on August 30th, and the Music Video was also released.

This will be Misekai’s first new song in about six months since releasing their first album in February.

This song was inspired by an illustration by popular illustrator Kumagai Nono, which became a hot topic on X (formerly Twitter) with 37,000 likes and 4,000 reposts.

The illustrations are based on the original novel “Summer’s Curse – Tougo’s Diary” published by “Kumagaya Nono” in 2021, and by looking at the two illustrations side by side, the passage of time for each of the boys and girls depicted in the illustrations is expressed. When posted on X, the gimmick of displaying images on X also became a hot topic.

Inspired by such an illustration, this work is a love ballad with colorful scenes that appear and disappear, giving you a sense of the freshness and transience of summer. If you listen carefully, you will notice that various sounds that give you a sense of summer are used. Such musical gimmicks are also a point of this work. I would like you to add this “Utakata Shoujo” as a new summer song classic.

Taking the extremely simple and clear theme of “summer” and the illustration that seems to encapsulate Kumagai Nono’s summer as their subject matter, Amaarashi commented, “The song “Utakata Shoujo” was born as a result of stripping away all the complicated summers that I had lined up up until that point.”

Chisari commented, “The composition of the two illustrations is an important point in this work. I would be happy if you listen to the song while filling in the meaning with your own story based on Kumagai Nono’s gimmick posts on X and the music video.”

With the simple and clear theme of “summer” and Kumagai Nono’s illustrations that seem to be packed with the summer as our subject matter, is there really a worldview that only we can express? The more I worried, the more the colors seemed to become muddier.

The song “Utakata Shoujo” was born as a result of stripping away all the complicated summer moments that had been lined up up until that point.
