Bialystocks wrote the theme song “Mirror” for the movie “Route 29” starring Haruka Ayase and is in charge of the soundtrack! “Mirror” is included in the third album “Songs for the Cryptids” to be released on October 2nd!

Bialystocks will be performing the theme song and background music for the film “Route 29,” which will be released on November 8th.

Bialystocks, who also composed the soundtrack for this film, wrote a new song, “Mirror,” as the theme song. This collaboration was realized at the request of Director Morii, who was fascinated by Vocalist Motoku’s 2019 film “Hadaka no Yume.” Bialystocks commented, “I wanted to not get in the way of the journey of Haru and Tombo, two people who were never meant to meet… I really enjoyed working with Director Morii to keep an eye on Haru and Tombo through music, staying close to each other like their strides.” Director Morii reflected, “The music that the two of them created this time was so free that I was overwhelmed when I heard it for the first time. Please look forward to it. I’m sure you will be amazed.”

The theme song “Mirror” will also be included in the album “Songs for the Cryptids” to be released on October 2nd. To commemorate the release of the album, the band will hold their largest live house tour to date, visiting seven locations nationwide, starting in October. Tickets are on sale at each play guide.

“Route 29” is a film inspired by poet Taichi Nakao’s “Route 29, Liberation,” directed by Yusuke Morii, whose debut film “This is Amiko” won him numerous awards, including the 27th Kaneto Shindo Prize, and captivated many movie fans. The film tells the story of Tombo, a lonely cleaner who cannot communicate with others more than necessary, who goes on a journey with an unusual girl named Haru. It is a road movie that depicts how her empty heart is filled with emotions of joy and sadness as she meets strange people along the way and gradually deepens her bond with Haru. Tombo is played by Haruka Ayase, who won the Japan Academy Award for Best Actress for “Revolver Lily,” and Haru is played by Kazuna Osawa, who made a strong debut in “This is Amiko” and won the Best Newcomer Award at the 36th Takasaki Film Festival. Other cast members who join the cast are talented actors with a reputation for their acting and presence, including Ichikawa Mikako, Kora Kengo, Harada Konosuke, Kawai Aoba, and Watanabe Misako.

A trailer for the film is currently available on YouTube, featuring the theme song “Mirror” and excerpts from the soundtrack by Bialystocks.

Bialystocks Comment
So as not to get in the way of the journey of Haru and Tombo, two people who were never meant to meet…
It was a lot of fun working with Director Morii to keep an eye on Haru and Tombo through music, keeping close to each other like the two of them.
Please come and visit the theater.

Comment from Director Yusuke Morii
After watching the movie “Hadaka no Yume,” I had been secretly hoping to ask Bialystocks to do the music, and then one day, by chance, I ran into Motoki Hoki at a movie theater. I felt it was fate, and even though it was our first meeting, I took the plunge and made him an offer on the spot.
The music that they created this time was so free that I was overwhelmed when I heard it for the first time. Please look forward to it. I’m sure you will be amazed.

Bialystocks Profile
The band was formed in 2019 after a live screening of the film “Haruneko,” directed by Sora Hokimoto and produced by Shinji Aoyama. In 2021, they released their first full-length album, “Bialystocks.” In 2022, they were selected for Spotify’s “RADAR: Early Noise 2022,” and in November of the same year, they released their second full-length album, “Quicksand,” through PONYCANYON/IRORI Records. The combination of vocalist Motoki Hoki’s soulful and expansive singing voice, folky and warm melodies, and keyboardist Go Kikuchi’s jazz-based but genre-crossing instrumental arrangement is described as both universal and cutting-edge.
