Wataru Sawabe’s solo project Skirt has released the music video for “Subway’s Shaking Rhythm de feat. Hajime Murakami (Japanese Funk)” from the featured EP “Extended Vol.1” released on September 4th.
This song was arranged with the sound producer Hajime Murakami of Zainichi funk, and was created with the aim of having a sound similar to Savannah Band, a 70’s disco band that Sawabe has been greatly influenced by in recent years. is a gorgeous song with a gorgeous and stylish arrangement performed by a big band for the first time.
The music video features members of the big band, including Motoi Murakami and Kei Koganemaru from Zainichi Funk, as well as Fumihiro Ibuki, who is known as the support drummer for Gen Hoshino and Aimyon, and performs a light dance. The cast includes up-and-coming actors Riko Seto and Marina Seto.
It’s a pop and luxury video that combines a performance scene with a big band of gorgeous musicians and a cast taking nimble steps, so be sure to check it out.

An unhealthy pop band that has a somewhat dark yet refreshing songwriting and band ensemble that has earned a reputation among people of all professions, genders, and ages. In 2006, Wataru Sawabe’s solo project began with a focus on recording through overdubbing. In 2010, he started his own label, Katuka Sounds, and started his activities in earnest with the release of his first album “S.O.S.” In April 2021, he was in charge of the opening theme song “ODDTAXI” for the anime “Odd Taxi” in collaboration with PUNPEE. With his extensive knowledge of comedy, in September 2023 he served as a judge for the final round of the comedy award race “UNDER 25 OWARAI CHAMPIONSHIP” for those under 25 years old, and also wrote the theme song for the competition, “Expectations and Premonitions.” He is also involved in the production of numerous animation works, movies, drama soundtracks, and music. Also, due to his songwriting sense, he has provided songs to Takashi Fujii, Kaede (Negicco), Toko Miura, adieu (Moka Kamishiraishi), etc. Furthermore, as a multi-player, he has participated in live performances and recordings with Spitz, Makoto Kawamoto, and the Moon Riders, whom Sawabe himself respects.He is a wonderful singer-songwriter and band member that has attracted attention for his versatile talent and genre-regardless nature.
