Singer-songwriter eill has released her 2nd major album “my dream box”. This album will be released approximately 2 years and 8 months after the previous album “PALETTE”. Starting with the lead song “Kakumei Eve”, which is the theme song for Fuji TV’s Monday 9th drama “Usowaki Rhetoric” (every Monday from 9:00 PM to 9:54 PM), which will air in October 2024, the Amazon original “Love Transit” season will be released. In addition to “happy ending” and “happy ever after”, which served as the theme songs for 1 and 2 respectively, “Baby, with u” was created in collaboration with Misako Sakazume, who has produced many hit songs, and Thai electro song “Baby, with u”. The albums were created with various artists and in various situations, such as “77 (feat. LUSS)”, which was produced featuring the pop duo LUSS, and “HIGHLIGHT”, which was produced at a co-light session in LA. .

―What was the 2 years and 8 months since your last work “PALLETE” like for you?

I feel like it was time to let myself go. After I finished making the album, I felt like I was being liberated from the places I had been restraining myself. In the end, it was me. I think I was thinking, “I have to do this” and “I shouldn’t do this.” I think that’s a good thing, though. If it were me before, I would have thought, “I have to release an album soon,” but I think I was able to make the best use of the two years and eight months this time because I started working at my own pace.

―Why did you name the album “my dream box”?

I thought this album was a concrete dream come true. There were songs that I co-wrote while overseas, and “Finale.” was listened to a lot in Korea and I was able to do a one-man live. Behind that, I’ve put together all of the troubles I had in order to get closer to my dreams, and created an album that feels like “I’ll give it to you in a gift box.” Moreover, I got the impression that it had a strong junk box or bento box feel to it. In the previous albums, each song had a different color, but this time it is characterized by a more genre-less assortment of songs, and I wanted to express that in the title.

– Up until now, you have been singing about “the dreams you want to make come true” and “the person you want to become” in your music, and when you are about to make those dreams come true, you even expressed that “for eill, music is a box that makes dreams come true.” I thought such a title was very nice. In addition to the digital release, why did you release the KiT Album instead of a CD?

I named it “my dream box” to convey the meaning of “a box filled with songs that will support your dreams” when it arrives and is opened by everyone, so I think that goes well with KiT. That’s what I thought. Moreover, KiT allows you to add content later. I feel the possibilities are endless as an item that deepens the connection between me and my fans. Other than that, I simply wanted to try something new. Kids who like K-Pop are like, “I’ve been waiting for it,” but I don’t think it’s that popular in Japan yet. I really wanted them to feel excited with my music.

―What kind of things were you thinking about when you wrote the theme song “Kakumei Eve” for Fuji TV’s monthly drama “Usowaki Rhetoric”? I think that a new cheer song was born that is typical of Eill while also incorporating the theme of the drama.

I wrote the song after reading the original manga and script. The main character, a girl (played by Honoka Matsumoto, played by Kanoko Urabe), hears a lie and because of it, she leaves the village where she grew up, but in a new place she meets a detective teacher (played by Kouji Suzuka, played by Souma Iku). It’s a story about how, for the first time, you can use your power for someone else. Everyone has times when they worry about the special things they have that are different from others, and I think it’s very difficult to love them. But I was also encouraged by the heroine’s ability to make her dreams come true, and I wrote this because I wanted to empathize with those feelings.

―When you take a step forward and step out into an environment different from your current one, what you thought was an inferiority complex often turns into a positive ability.

Moreover, what I like about the main character is that although he has some negative aspects, he is very positive and is basically always smiling. Normally, I would just say a bunch of negative words and then write the lyrics in a way that inspires me, but this time I challenged myself to write a song using positive words. That’s exactly what I wanted to do, and I think I was able to do it because “Rhetoric to Unravel Lies” is a work with such positive energy. I hope that when someone who is worried listens to this song, it will make them feel like “Let’s go!” rather than just soaking in the bathtub of worry. I recommend listening to it at full blast on your way home at night as it gives you a sense of the main character (lol).
