GLAY released their 30th anniversary album “Back To The Pops” on October 9th. To commemorate the album release, a short drama “GLAY Back To The Pops “Albumovie”” starring Tokio Emoto, Emi Takei, and director Michihiko Yanouchi was released.
In this short drama, the main character, played by Tokio Emoto, is invited by his 30-year-old self and looks back on his life to the music of “Back To The Pops.” GLAY’s music that is close to your daily life, as if it has been around since then. The theme of this drama is “Yesterday gives birth to today, and today creates tomorrow.” ”, how I came to be where I am today, along with the culture and background of the times.
Emi Takei also appears as Tokio Emoto’s old girlfriend. The two of them share wired earphones while listening, and their clothes and make-up follow the sensibilities of the time. This drama captures valuable footage of them, and the two actors also talked about it during filming. I have also received some comments. The narration for this work is done by TERU, which is also a noteworthy point.
GLAY has always delivered music that is in tune with the times. The latest album is packed with 30 years of GLAY’s Pop (music), so much so that TAKURO calls it their “30th year debut album.”
Even though it’s new, it’s nostalgic. This is a classic and latest work. Why not take a trip back in time with “Albumovie”?

I had no idea that an offer would come to me, so it was a bit of a shock. Thank you very much.
When I filmed it, it might just be a small part, but the (90s) costumes of the junior high school girls on the stairs in Shibuya made me a little excited.
I think young people today probably don’t know how to dress.
They said things like “I don’t wear them like this,” so I think it would be a really interesting piece to see those differences.
Having been an actor for 20 years, I can understand how difficult it is to continue acting for 30 years.

Congratulations to GLAY on your 30th anniversary.
I am personally looking forward to the release of this album,
I’m happy, surprised, and excited to receive such an offer.
I had a lot of mixed feelings.
I went to GLAY’s live show for the first time when I was in the first grade of elementary school, and it was “HEAVY GAUGE.” After that, I went to live shows every year, and I felt like I grew up with GLAY. So, I’m really happy to be able to appear in a music video like this.
I also just turned 30, marking my 30th anniversary. It was the same commemoration, so I was happy to have this kind of connection.
And we continue to support them.

A lot of things happened. It seems like a long time ago, and it also feels like it was just recently.
After receiving this album that travels through time and space, which only GLAY can create, a film was born.
An inspirational movie that embodies the deep concept inherent in the album. We named it “Albumovie”.
Today exists on top of all the past overlaps, and the next tomorrow awaits.
The four members of GLAY will share with you the love of this experience. I hope that today is so irreplaceable that I envy my yesterday self.
