MUTE BEAT & Kazufumi Kodama 5 analog releases commemorating the release of "Poni Record" exclusive! Email interview with Kazufumi Kodama!

The 1st to 3rd albums and live albums of MUTE BEAT, a solitary dub band led by Kazufumi Kodama (Kodama Kazufumi), who have insisted on music with a cool stance of “from Tokyo” while using jazz, ska, dub, etc. as their materials, In commemoration of the release of all 5 titles of Kazufumi Kodama’s solo album “Return of the Dread Beat” as analog LPs on “Record Day 2024” on November 3rd, Pony Canyon Archive PoniReco PLUS, an integrated e-commerce site that handles his works, conducted an email interview with Kazufumi Kodama, a pioneering artist in the Japanese music scene of new wave, reggae, ska, and dub.

We asked him to explore his memories of the time when he made his solo album “RETURN OF THE DREAD BEAT” for the first time in 30 years, so please check it out.

A special message from Mr. Kodama is excerpted from an email interview.

“I was impressed by the high sound quality produced by the latest mastering.Over the course of about 40 years, the transition from analog to digital has overcome many difficulties, such as clear highs but lack of lows. I was impressed with the sound that was available now.

For example, it’s like hearing the farthest tip of a voice echoing from a silent mountaintop. Or it was like the pure sound of headphones when I was recording in the studio with the monitor sound I had adjusted.

I hope everyone will listen to the eternal music that exists here, neither old nor new.

This record was created by British engineer Dave Turner, who has worked on many of the dub works of legends such as Lee Perry and Joe Gibbs, and has been faithfully cut to the original master, with an overwhelming focus on deep bass.

In addition, all five works will be reissued as high-quality UHQCD editions on October 30th, prior to the analog records.
