BAND-MAID is a globally popular all-girl hard rock band whose new album “Epic Narratives” has topped charts around the world. ZEPP TOUR, which was held in three cities in Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka in November, will conclude with ZEPP HANEDA’s 2DAYS on November 25th and 26th, and after the show, there will be a new single release in January 2025, waitperson (live), and tour information. ZEPP TOUR, which was scheduled to be held in the past, was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic, and this tour was a “revenge” for BAND-MAID. BAND-MAID has made tremendous progress over the past few years, attracting more than 20,000 people on their solo performance tour in the United States, and will be the first Japanese band to perform at Lollapalooza Chicago in 2023, the first Japanese band to do so since X JAPAN. They have grown into a world-famous girl band, performing for the first time in years. Surprisingly, this was their first ZEPP TOUR, and it was a hot wait staff event, with masters and mistresses (as fans call them) from both Japan and overseas.
At the performance on November 25th, the wait staff started with the first song, “Forbidden tale,” with a gauze curtain placed between the stage and the audience seats. When the members begin to perform while in silhouette, an effect that looks like shimmering lights is projected along with the lyrics to the song by SAIKI (Vo). Among the new album “Epic Narratives”, this song has become a hot topic as it expresses BAND-MAID’s new frontier with a spectacular development, and the video that changes according to the rapidly unfolding song will take your breath away. . As a hard rock band, BAND-MAID had a set list that was intense from the beginning, so there must have been many audience members who were stunned by the production at the beginning of this tour.
The songs performed from the new album include intense songs such as “Shambles” and “Protect You,” which have attracted attention as anime tie-up songs, as well as the medium ballad “Bestie,” co-written with Incubus’ Mike Einziger (Gt). Show off. In “The One” and “Toi et moi,” the charm of twin vocals by SAIKI and Miku Kobato (Vo & Gut) stands out, creating beautiful harmonies. Also, it is worth noting that this tour included an increase in the number of “session” parts performed by musical instruments. The guitar and bass battle part between KANAMI and MISA, whose overwhelming performance became a hot topic on the “SUMMER SONIC 2024” stage, started with MISA’s bass solo, and was connected from the session with AKANE, Kobato Miku, and KANAMI. Waitperson’s unique arrangements of songs such as “After Life” captivate the audience. It was a two-hour show where BAND-MAID showed off not only their popularity but also their ability.
At their November 26th performance, which sold out quickly, they made a surprise announcement about their new moves for 2025 after the show, as befits the final tour. In January 2025, a new digital single will be released, an extra edition of Waitperson will be held, the first BAND-MAID Billboard Live Tour will be held in Tokyo and Osaka, and Maid Day will begin on May 10th.
