Homecomings releases new song “Moon Shaped” as the theme song for the movie “Crescent Moon and Cat”! The music video of the band performing under the moon has been released! There will also be an artist follow campaign where you can receive original wallpaper images!

Homecomings’ new song, “Moon Shaped,” has been released digitally.

“Moon Shaped” is the theme song for the movie “Mikazuki to Neko” starring Yumi Adachi, Kana Kurashina, and Keisuke Watanabe, and is the first new single to be released in about a year since the previous work “New Neighbors”. The cover photo was drawn by Ema Gaspar, a visual artist from Portugal who is known for providing graphics to Mura Masa and others.

The music video for this song has also been released on YouTube. The video features a scene of the three performing under an object that resembles the “moon” as the title suggests. Regarding the song that was tied to the movie, Fukutomi (Gt.) commented, “I hope that people will be able to experience the story of ‘The Crescent Moon and the Cat’ in various ways, through the movie, the manga, and this song, ‘Moon Shaped’.”

In addition, to commemorate the release of “Moon Shaped,” a campaign is being held to give away free wallpaper images to everyone who follows/favorites the Homecomings artist page on Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon Music, LINE MUSIC, and YouTube Music. For more details, please check Homecomings’ official SNS.

Comment from Yuki Fukutomi (Gt.)

Waxing and waning both have their own beauty at different times, and we hold hands while loving or not loving each form, changing softly and gently, and living like that is connected to society. Everything about “The Crescent Moon and the Cat” is something that Homecomings values, and we turned that into a song. We hope that people will experience the story of “The Crescent Moon and the Cat” in various ways, through the movie, the manga, and this song “Moon Shaped.”

Homecomings

The members are Tatami Ayaka (Vo./Gt.), Fukuda Honami (Ba./Cho), and Fukutomi Yuki (Gt.).

Since forming in 2012, the band has been active, touring overseas in places like Taiwan and the UK, and appearing at the FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL five times. The band’s comfortable melodies are enhanced by lyrics that weave detailed descriptions of everyday life, and their beautiful yet nostalgic singing voice is sure to appeal to listeners, and they are gaining support.

In 2017, they started a film and music event called “New Neighbors” in collaboration with illustrator Naoya Sanuki. They hosted a double feature event of screening a film they selected and an acoustic live performance related to the film. In 2019, they were in charge of the theme songs for the films “Liz and the Blue Bird” and “Love is Hard”. Vocalist Tatami has expanded the scope of their activities, including participating as a guest vocalist in songs by Quruli and ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION. They made their major debut with IRORI Records in 2021 and released their second major album “New Neighbors” last year in 2023.
