GLAY × JAY (ENHYPEN)’s music video released on the release day of their 30th debut anniversary single!

GLAY released their 30th anniversary single “whodunit-GLAY × JAY(ENHYPEN)-/Share” on May 29th. The music video for the single “whodunit-GLAY × JAY(ENHYPEN)-” has been released on their official YouTube channel.

As the title suggests, this work is a collaboration with JAY, a member of the global group ENHYPEN. TERU and TAKURO went to Korea to record the vocals for the song together with JAY. Also, at TAKURO’s request, JAY himself wrote the lyrics for JAY’s singing part.

The music video was also shot entirely in Korea, and includes the “clash between TERU and JAY as vocalists” that TAKURO had hoped for. In addition, the MV is packed with highlights, including CG scenes inspired by the 30th anniversary key visual created by Eiichiro Oda, the original author of “ONE PIECE.” It’s a gorgeous music video worthy of an anniversary single. GLAY’s 30th anniversary single “whodunit” was produced with JAY, a member of the Korean global group ENHYPEN. The music video is sprinkled with images inspired by the worldview of Eiichiro Oda, who was in charge of the key visuals, and depicts the GLAY members and JAY’s passionate performance. In particular, I would like to say that the scene where vocalist TERU and JAY compete against each other is a wonderful scene that will remain in GLAY’s history among their many collaborations to date.

Lastly, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Eiichiro Oda, who created the key visual, to JAY and everyone at HYBE who readily accepted our offer to collaborate, and to Director Bae Myung Hyun and the rest of the filming team.

This is the best reward for GLAY’s 30 years of sincere dedication to music. On behalf of all GLAY members, I would like to express my gratitude once again.

I served as assistant director on the filming of “Into the Wild” in 2020, and was therefore honored to be asked to direct this music video.

It was my first time meeting the GLAY members in four years, and I was surprised to see that despite the time that has passed, their acting and coolness have only gotten better.

I think it must have been hard to shoot so many scenes on set, but I was moved by the passion shown by the members, who said things like, “It was so cool, let’s do it again,” and “Just like the director wanted!” Thanks to that, all the staff were able to approach filming with the same passion as the members.

The song is long and I’m sure it was difficult to film, but that just shows how much the members love their music, and it was wonderful to see them trying to create a wonderful piece of work.

This time, we shot a feature with ENHYPEN’s JAY. I was worried because GLAY is much more senior than JAY, but seeing the harmony between the two artists, I realized that my initial worries were unfounded. Overall, it was great to see the GLAY members talking to JAY a lot on set and loosening the mood, and I was impressed by how great the ensemble of the two of them looked when they were acting out the scene where TERU and JAY took the microphone on the table.

We would like to thank GLAY and JAY, who came all the way across the ocean to Korea and worked hard filming from early in the morning, as well as all the staff, for making it possible for us to capture these legends on camera.
