Shibuya Station Area Management General Incorporated Association (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Yoichiro Sakai), in collaboration with residents, businesses, educational institutions, and government agencies, will host a street live event called “OPEN LIVE” in the area around Shibuya Station every Thursday for six weeks from July 25th to August 29th, 2024 as part of the “SHIBUYA Town Opening 2024” initiative.

[What is “Machi-biraki”?]
The Shibuya Station Central Area Urban Development Guidelines 2010, which aims to promote an easy-to-understand and user-friendly environment around Shibuya Station, set the goal of “creating milestones that will promote the town’s sustainable and wide-area growth.” “Machi-biraki” is an initiative in which residents, businesses, educational institutions, and the ward work together to improve the town’s appeal and promote the new Shibuya, coinciding with milestones such as the construction of new public facilities and the opening of large-scale buildings.
This marks the third phase of the town opening. In phase I (2018), we held the “Shibuya River Fes,” and in phase II (2019), we held various events around Shibuya Station under the slogan “HELLO neo SHIBUYA.” This season, we will be promoting the new charms of Shibuya under the slogan “SHIBUYA OPEN CITY Open Shibuya.”
