≒JOY (Nearly Equal Joy) is the “third group” following the idol groups =LOVE (Equal Love) and ≠ME (Not Equal Me) produced by Rino Sashihara. Their first single “Gym Disco” was released on Wednesday, June 12th this week, and won 86,878 points on the Oricon Daily Single Ranking for June 11th, 2024, with a cumulative shipment of over 130,000 copies, making it a first-time debut. While the buzz is still going strong, today, a special release event was held at Stella Town Omiya to commemorate the release of ≒JOY’s first single “Gym Disco”.
The special release event was ≒JOY’s first of its kind, and was held with approximately 2,000 attendees filling the area around the stage. In addition to a mini-live performance of songs from their first single, “Gyakuin Disco,” there was also a farewell party for those who purchased the CD.
At the mini live, two songs from the single were performed for the first time: “Gyakuten Disco,” an up-tempo youth song with Esumi Reon in the center, whose music video has been viewed over 1.85 million times; “Yume Miru ♡ Idol,” a cute and sparkling idol song with Amano Kanoe in the center, filled with straightforward love connected by the red thread of fate; and “Never Give Up! Live,” a kind and supportive song from ≒JOY to help you love yourself even when you’re feeling down today or gloomy tomorrow, and to help you live without giving up. They also performed a total of seven songs including ≒JOY’s popular songs “≒JOY,” “Waratte Fragile,” “Chou Kodoku Lion,” and “Ozora, Byuunto,” and livened up the event with their spirited performance.
Also, during the “Camera Time” which is a standard feature at ≒JOY concerts and is aimed at visitors to the camera area, the sight of camera-toting fans desperately pressing their shutters to get the best shot was impressive.
Leader Ozawa Manami expressed her gratitude to the attendees, saying, “Thank you all so much for lining up from early this morning and taking part in the event! We will continue to grow so that we can give you all our best, so please continue to support ≒JOY!”
≒JOY will be touring four cities in the ≒JOY Hall Tour 2024. Details of the tour and ticket information will be announced at a later date, so please look forward to the latest information.

This is the third group formed by Rino Sashihara to produce her ideal idol, following =LOVE and ≠ME. The final audition was held on January 30, 2022, and on March 29, 2022, the members were unveiled and producer Rino Sashihara herself announced that the group would be named “≒JOY”. On September 3 last year, the ≒JOY 1st concert “Nice to meet you, we are ≒JOY” was held at the National Hall of Pacifico Yokohama, and from the end of last year to the beginning of this year, the first tour ≒JOY 1st Tour “Absolute” was held and was a great success. The debut mini album “Kitto, Zettai, Zettai” was released on Wednesday, January 17th. (The album debuted at number one on both the Oricon Weekly Album Ranking and Billboard JAPAN Top Albums Sales. Cumulative shipments exceeded 100,000 copies on the first day of release.) On February 24th of this year, the ≒JOY 2nd ANNIVERSARY PREMIUM CONCERT was held at Tokyo International Forum Hall A, attracting an audience of approximately 8,000 people to commemorate the 2nd anniversary of the band’s formation. On June 12th (Wednesday), the long-awaited 1st single “Taiikukan Disco” was released. The name ≒JOY is filled with Rino Sashihara’s wish that “the members and the fans who support them should feel joy and happiness when they meet.”
